Topic: Vomiting after taking meds...kinda gross, sorry.
So, my dr after I was running a fever of 103.3, put me on antibiotics and prilosec for the rotten acid reflux. Last night I got my horse pills of antibiotics and of course had to crush them. I about threw up after taking them. This morning taking the antibiotics and prilosec again I gagged, mouth watered, but I didnt get sick. Now, I just took my prilosec with cottage cheese. My mouth started watering, ran to the bathroom and threw up, literally.
WHAT Is going on with me? Anyone else have open RNY and have this many problems? Im scared to take my darn antibiotics in a bit cuz Im sure Ill get sick after taking them too. Im very shocked he didnt give me a liquid, maybe antibiotics dont come in liquid? I dont know. I have no appetite. I know Im literally starving myself. I had yogurt this morning at 6am. Just tried cottage cheese at 1:30pm and puked it up with the meds Im sure.
This is frustrating. I still have my reflux too despite taking prilosec. I dont know what to do anymore. and I do NOT want to lose my hair but I cant get my protein in either. The thought of my protein shakes makes me wanna puke. HELP!

Topic: RE: These ND winters!!!!
I know why we stay here. Good people. I was watching the nat'l news last night, they had a little blurb about all the people in Fargo pitching in to sandbag and prepare. I couldn't help but note that the "tone" of the story was kind of incredulous.... that there were all these people helping out total strangers. Boy, are we backwards or what? Helping each other out. There must be something wrong with us North Dakotans. I haven't heard any blame being thrown around yet either.
We had the freezing rain and thunderblizzard on Monday night... we've dug ourselves out and it's business as usual. Just a "normal" ND winter like I remember as a kid. We haven't had one of these in a long time, I guess we were overdue.

Yesterday, my fever spiked to 103.3. Wouldnt you think that would be a sign saying HEY, this lady has an infection! I called my surgeon to see what I can do. He finally called in antibiotics. My only problem, they are HORSE pills. I had to cut and cut and cut them. I crushed the remainder and took last night but about threw up taking them. Any easy way to take meds anymore?
Kelly, I will let you know when I get back to Fargo and ready to go to support groups. Having someone there the first few times would be great:)

Topic: RE: Flooding/Surgeries Cancelled
Woke up to icy roads and snowy travel conditions this morning. Also heard that part of I-29 was closing so felt we better hit the road and get to Fargo. Road was terrible but made it okay. At 2:00 I get my call from the hospital notifying me that I need to report to the hospital at 5:15 AM for my surgery which is scheduled from 7:15-10:00. By 3:30 I had been called back and told that Meritcare was shutting down many of it's operations and all surgeries were cancelled. Though the weather was bad and we had already paid for the room we were in, we felt we should hurry and get back on the road to home before the conditions got any worse. We were packed up in less than 10 minutes. By the time we were leaving the motel they had already shut down the elevator. We were told they were turning off the power as the motel was taking on water. As disappointed as I was that my surgery was being cancelled, at this point we were just sad for the people of Fargo. I am told to stay ready and continue the liquid diet and as soon as things are back up and running I would be the first one contacted to fill in any openings in the surgical schedule. And so I wait.......................

Glad you are able to have a variety of soft foods. Was worried you had only branched out to one item LOL.
Fish is good,I find it easy to bake, but that is me. High in many things we need.
Braunschweiger-all my life that stuff has looked nasty. I had kind of forgotten about it. Maybe I will buy a small chunk of it and try it out. Tastes have changed since surgery and I now look at foods differently. Mushy was not on my list prior, now it is a way of life lol.
I use yoplait yogurts. That is what was recommended by my NUT, I have not had a problem with it at all.
There are 2 support groups.
The one at Meritcare is the last Tuesday of the month at either 630 pm till 730pm. I can't remember. I attend this one every month. It is in the Auditorium in hospital on Broadway.
The one at Innovis is the 3rd Monday of the month from 6pm to 730- Lower level of hospital by the fountain. I attend this one every month too.
I do not know of that name you mentioned. Meritcare is Becky. Innovis is Kathi.
If you plan on going to any of the meetings, let me know I can buddy up with you so you don't feel odd coming the first couple of times. Everyone at both groups are nice/friendly and we are all there to support each other and share ideas.
Have a wonderful dinner/eve

After my scope last week with Wroblewski, they put me back on step 2, however, today I can go to step 3 and Im excited. FORKABLE FOODS:) Mom is making us walleye for supper. Im not a good fish cooker so thats where mom comes in*ha* I had tried tuna before my scoping and it worked good. I LOVE fish, tuna, etc so no problem there. im even thinking braunschweiger for protein. As weird as it sounds, I love that stuff too and its def mushy! Cottage cheese works awesome. I need to get more, maybe run out after mom gets home today. She baked a yam earlier. I think Ill try that, too. Yogurt, I didnt find much in fargo with little sugar. I found a kemps one in park rapids that has 8 grams. The other day i bought activia here in Jmst and that works good too. I open the prilosec capsule and put it in there to take. You are making me hungry now, which is probably a good thing:)
Thanks for the tips Kelly. I appreciate it.
Where are the support groups? When? Is it Rachel Rudel?*sp* I am not fond of that lady so I may have a hard time going to groups she runs.

Hope you get some answers soon. I would watch it with the apple sauce too. Apples have an amount of acid in them and that might irritate it more, maybe not I am not sure. I would stay with mild stuff for now. Have you tried cottage cheese, SF puddings, mashed taters, mashed veggies, soggy bran flakes, yogurt, tuna mashed/mixed good,baked/re-fried beans, pureed chili if spices were ok, There are a few items that might set ok for you. I think the key tho is going to be prilosec lol
Have a wonderful day!

Shelber....I am so happy for you that your surgery is still on.
Speedy recovery friend and welcome to the losers' bench...even if you need a boat to get there. PUN!!!
Seriously, best wishes to you and let us know how things are going for you. We were so fortunate to escape any flooding or blizzard the past few days here in Williston. My thoughts and prayers for those in the state not as fortunate as we are.
