Thanks so much for your response, Sandy!
Congrats on all your weight loss! How exciting for you! That is AMAZING that you look AND feel 20 years younger! I can't wait to shop in the normal sizes and have stylish clothes that will fit!
I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago because of gallstones--I hope your surgery goes well, which I'm sure it will! I've read lots of great things about Dr. B so I have no doubt you are in great hands!
Again--thanks for your reply, and I wish you lots of luck with the new you! :)

Welcome Amandan....May 11th is just around the corner. I hope you get approved by your health carrier too. I am 66 yrs. old, had lap RNY Nov. 19, 2008 in Bismarck. I am 5'7" tall, before surgery I weighed 270 pounds and have lost 86 pounds and have 23 ore to lose to reach Dr. Bruderer's goal. I feel great, feel 20 years younger and was told by Dr. B's Physician asst that I LOOK 20 years younger. That was a WOW moment for me. I shop in the "normal" sizes now and cute young looking clothes and life is GREAT!! I would have this surgery again in a heartbeat. In 5 1/2 mths I have had no problems regarding the surgery except I am having gallbladder surgery in Bismarck next Tuesday by Dr. B. I have to travel from Williston but it is worth every mile. LOL They told me I could have had these stones way before the surgery. In January I was hospitalized here for kidney stones.....something I have been bothered with for years. So with Kidney stones and now Gall stones.....my mother should have named me "Rocky" instead of Sandy!!
Good luck to you and please keep posting and letting us know how you are doing.

Hello all--
Thought I would introduce myself and see if anyone has any words of wisdom or advice! :)
My name is Amanda and I am 26 years old. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember--and I mean a long time. I remember being the biggest girl in kindergarden and it's been downhill since then. I was looking into surgery last year around April, but then after I had my consultation set I found out I was pregnant! I had very mixed feelings. At first I was upset. I had just made the decision to try to get WLS and now I can't.
However, in February, I gave birth to our first little girl--and she's absolutely wonderful. I'm so glad we have her! and another exciting thing is that I can now move on with WLS!
I live in Fargo and I have been seeing the dietician since last June. I have my appointment with Dr. Hauge, the pshychologist (or psychiatrist, not sure) on Thursday and then I go to Park Rapids to see Dr. Smith and Sandy Jones on May 11th. I'm SO EXCITED!
I have BCBS ND and am really hoping that I will get approved for insurance, but I'm not sure it will happen......I am about 5' 6.5" and 245 pounds (about 38-39 BMI). I have been on medication for hypertension for a few years.
Any adivce/opinions are more than welcome and I look forard to joining into this journey for a new life with all of you!

I think that would be a blast! We are a very quiet group, but I know there are lots of us out there... it's just getting us to speak up! LOL Maybe a get-together would help that along!

Hey Judi!
Curt runs the full marathon too. After I am finished I will be on the side lines towards the end ( by parking lot of dome) cheering others on for the rest of the time. I am hoping to have my youngest son there and my Mother, if all plans go right. She lives in Wisc and am hoping to have her here for Mothers day weekend. She has not seen me since 2 months before surgery. Thinks I may of made some changes in that time LOL
Maybe We will see each other at the race!

hey tink good for you! I'll look for you at the marathon. my husband is running the full marathon so I'm going to be on my bike trying to bring him his special hydrating drink at 4 different places.
I did a few 5k's last year and one this winter, it makes you feel really good!!
Sprint triathlon season is starting so my slug ass is back to the gym and the evil pool. I'm never fully trained for them but they are fun
thank goodness for our month of summer.
outside exercise is so much more fun than gym exercise!!

So, am I the only crazy person in the area or are others out there getting their exercise thing on?
The weather is getting more stable daily and it is wonderful to enjoy the fresh air. I am starting to fall off of the machines at the gym and fall onto the streets of Fargo. No not literally!
With Spring (?) finally on the way, I have had the desire to be outside more. It might include retail therapy, walking, riding a bike or such. What is it your starting to get into?
May 9Th I will be walking- yes WALKING my first 5K at the Fargo Marathon. Have I trained? Heck NO, training is for the big guns, not my 3 mile walk LOL.
Yesterday I had Curt dig out my bike, put my new seat on it,tighten things up,spray some WD40 on spots and off I rode. It was a nice day out. I only rode about a mile, he told me only ride as far as you want to walk back.LOL got to love his logic! That was my first bike ride in like 3 years. It felt good.
Come on people fess up, what are your spring exercise plans.
