I had my consultation with Dr. Smith and Sandy Jones in Park Rapids yesterday! They are going to submit to insurance this week, so with any luck I will have some form of a yes or no by next Friday!!?!
I'm so excited and nervous! I can't wait to hear--I just hope they approve me and I can get things moving!
Thank you all for your thoughts and support! I'll let you know when I hear something!

Congrats on being able to get closer to your family.
Congrats on your next steps of your education.
Booo-hiss hiss on losing yet another N.D gal, even if it was a short timer.
Ok, enough of that lol I wish you the best of luck in everything!
I think this really calls for that ND get together before you leave us!!

keep going on your education, My 2 other sisters and I just came back from Hartford, Conn't where another sister just got her Doctorates degree from UConn. What an impressive ceremony and all the grads with PHD's and Dr's. She did her dissertaion on adult learners in a first generation situation. We attended all the ceremonies and the actual graduation. She is emplyed by UConn and works on campus. She grew up in Fargo and comes back to visit,.... Conn. is almost like North Dakota only older. Things really do have a way of working out, ...you are right there... now that you have lived away, sometimes moving home is a new rebirth of sorts... good luck on all you do... Peggysue
As someone who has lived 600-800 miles away from my family for most of my adult life, I think moving home is a great move!
Best of luck and don't forget to touch base and let us know how you are doing!

I had a DS in Mexico on 3/24 & recovered in Milwaukee, where I have family & am from. My practicum placement ended, which I knew was going to happen. I went back to work this week (part-time job) & was given a 2 week notice that my job was going to be eliminated :{ I still qualify for unemployment & COBRA, as I was getting ins from my work.
I have decided to move back to Milwaukee & have given notice that I'm leaving to my landlord. I guess I'll be leaving sometime in June. I still need to do my dissertation & will have to decide whether I want to ask UW-Milw to sample some of their students or travel back to UND periodically. My advisor here already said that it didn't matter where I got the data from. I have some contacts at UW-Milw that I will call. I've already spoken to one who said that she would support it, but that I would have to make some type of proposal to the department faculty & they would discuss it & decide whether it would be alright. It's at least a possibility.
I am really looking forward to moving home, though! Maybe it is a blessing in disguise. I think things have a way of working out in the end. If I propose my dissertation by November, then I can apply for internship & that will run from summer 2010 - summer 2011, at which time I will be done with school. FOREVER. I should probably mention that I've already completed all of my coursework for my Ph.D :}
I've lost 25 pounds since my surgery 6.5 weeks ago & 37 pounds from my high in February. I'm looking forward to loosing more. I'm glad that I will be a lot thinner when I go on my internship interviews in January. It will probably help.

My suggestion would be to call Bismarck and get the address to the location that he see's his patients at in Minot. Then go to a map site, like yahoo maps. Plug in your address, then the appointment address and print it out. It will give you step by step directions and you will end up in the right place

Have a great day & I hope that this helps. If not let me know and I will see what I can do to help you out more.

I had the LAP RNY in February 2009. I had surgery on the 2nd and was discharged on the 3rd. I very much like Dr. Monson, I found him very thorough and personable. His staff are also excellent. I have lost 52 lbs so far. I'm exercising daily now. I didn't have any of the side effects (dumping/ diarrhea) that other people reported. I have found that my appetite for my favorite foods has changed. I no longer have any cravings for sweets. I've had a wonderful outcome, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Good luck, I know you'll do great
