Topic: New To ND and 2 year surgiversary
Hello all!
Finally got moved up here from FL a few weeks ago, and have been freezing ever since. I guess I will take it over my hubby being unemployed. I am now in the process of finding a job. Looking back at the last 2 years, I am still having wow moments, and still no regrets about the surgery despite my initial issues. I have lost 130 pounds, and maintained it for 15 months now. I lost 10 pounds more that my "goal", and have surpassed my goal pants size. In fact, I went from never being able to find big enough clothes at stores, to having problems finding the smaller sizes now. I have gotten rid of all of my comorbidities now, and I feel great.
For all of you who are considering surgery, JUST DO IT! For those who have had surgery, keep up the great work. Hoping to meet more North Dakotans now that I am here. Still need to find a Dr. to follow my yearly labs, I am due again, but need to wait until next month when insurance will kick in .

very good points krs....I have no health issues but if I did I would have to agree with you that it is a slow process...well, at least for me it has been.

I've learned alot more about the lapband from a support group member who had it done. However, I had the RNY and found it was the best option for me. Its really not much more invasive than the lapband, as its laproscopic, too, but I don't know if I like the idea that it would take so long to lose the over 100 lbs I needed to lose, due to my other related health issues (since resolved due to weight loss). I've heard from others that you don't lose the greater percentage of weight as the RNY overall, and since most insurance companies don't let you come back for a 'redo' if you choose the wrong one, I opted for the procedure that was the most assured to lose the weight. Your doctor, if he or she does both procedures, could be very objective and tell you which one is right for you.

I would, but Mondays are the only days that don't work for me for lunch. I teach nursing students every Monday during June and July.......Have fun without me.
