Phyllis,
Welcome, shout away of your experiences. Small group here and were a little slow at reading the board but we do chime in!!

I don't know of Streeter. I have only been in ND for 8 yrs this month. I am a transplant from St Paul MN/OB-San Diego and other parts of CA.

Looks forward to hearing/reading your posts

The soreness part is different for each person. As for the depression, your body let loose a ton of hormones after surgery, so the depression is probably normal. Also, remember, even if you are on antidepressants, your body will absorb them differently now. I was put on Zoloft after my emergency surgery as a preventive due to the hormone release and other things that "could" come up. If you feel like your current meds are not working, by all means ask your surgeon if you need to switch or add something else for a short time until your body gets back to "normal". Best of luck to you. By the way, who do you see in Bismarck? I just moved here and need to find a surgeon who will check up on my labs each year, since I am 2 years out now.

I think what you are feeling is normal. You just had a major surgery a few days ago, things are going to be sore and tight. As for the depressed mood, this to could be normal this early out. Your body is wondering what in the heck you did to it. Give it time to heal, IF you get worse or things change call your doctor/surgeon- that is what they get paid for.
Best of luck to you, that hit/ran over with a Mac truck feeling will go away in time ( weeks)

Hi!
I had gastric sleeve surgery on June 10th and where my stomach was (where ther staples are now) is still sore.  Is this common?  I can't even lift my arms up high because of the soreness that starts after.

Is it also common to be depressed at this stage even though I am taking antidepressants?

Help!

Topic: RE: Information about Bismarck Drs and anything else?
Hello Nicole!
Welcome to ND.  I live in Williston (N.W part) and I love going to Bismarck.  Dr. Schmit did my Gastric Sleeve Surgery on June 10th.  He also took my gallbladder out October 2008.  I really like him.  He is soft spoken, but a wonderful doctor.  I go back to see him for a post op appointment on June 23rd.  If I could I would move to Bismarck in a heart beat.  My husband works in the oilfield here and there is just no oil drilling in Bismarck.  I am going to still keep working on him to move there some day.
Bismarck is not a hard city to get around in ( I don't think).
My surgery was done at St. Alexius Hospital and the staff there are wonderful too.
Good Luck on your move to Bismarck!

Hi Dyanna--

I was just denied too! :(  I am going to try one appeal, and then will probably end up doing cash pay with Dr. Smith.

We have a lot in common, as I also see Heidi and my BMI has been between 35-40 for about 4 years. I have hypertension and am on medication, but according to my insurance, I either have to be over 40 BMI for 3 years or have BMI over 35 with high risk co-morbids. They dont' count my hypertension as "high risk" because I am on 1 medication and it is somewhat controlled. In order for it to be "high risk" it has to be uncontrolled and I have to be trying 3 medicaitons at 1 time!

Good luck to you! If you have any luck, let me know!
