Favorite breakfast items?

What gives you the most bang for your protein (buck)?

What is it you just can NOT in any shape or form tolerate for breakfast?

Yes, it is that bunch of questions from tink time! LOL

My favorite breakfast items are:
1% Cottage Cheese (1/2 cup)
Pepperoni slices (nuked to crisps) 14 of them.
This yields me between 18-21 grams of protein to start the day.
This gives me (IMO) the most bang for my protein levels.

I have not found anything that I just can not tolerate, However I don't do bread type items, they are just not a high enough ranker on my list in any shape/form.

Today another fine example was:
!/2 cup vanilla yogurt (3 grams protein)
1/4 cup cinnamon granola.(2.5 grams protein)
1/4 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder.(6.5 grams protein)
All that only yielded me 12 grams of protein, hardly worth the effort IMO

Whats up with you and your choices?

Nicole,
You should be able to take your vitamins, at least I was able to take mine and any other meds I needed back then. They sometimes have you stop a couple days before surgery on some meds (not vitamins).

Hello Everyone,

This weekend I start my clear liquid diet for my sugery.  I was wondering does anyone know if we can take our Vitamins? My Doc and nurse are out for the week so I can't call them.

Thanks,

Watch them girls carefully!! In the blink of an eye they become M.I.A!!! and NEVER return LOL

I refused to buy any tank tops- I had 15 of them in my dresser, took 2.5 to 3 inches off each side (sewed) and ta da I have a whole drawer still of tank tops, only now they fit!

I have stocked up on plenty of shirts/sweaters/vests for fall and winter. I now have to start hunting for more dress pants for work.

I am having fun shopping again! Because I don't know what fits or what looks good, I've been trying all kinds of styles. I haven't been buying too many shirts yet. I bought a couple tank tops for vacation, but it will be interesting what I'll find for this fall and winter.

And I noticed today on my recent pictures and when I tried to put a spaghetti strap top that "the girls" are definitely dragging. I need to find something to lift them back up to the chest! LOL.

Topic: RE: My Surgery 7/27/2009!!!
Greetings,

As you know only some people get to live story book lives. I am not one of them, even tho I had my mind set that I would be a text book case/surgery. Nice reality check.

Here is the good/bad and the ugly. My surgery went well. The doctor said I gave him a run for his money.LOL  He was having trouble getting everything reconnected and I almost ended up having Open RNY. Last ditch effort he was able to complete it lap.

I went home a couple days later, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, eat, eat, eat. I was making head way. I was even able to get out of the house and walk up to 1.5 miles. I had my Sig OT with me, was scared to try it solo.

On the 15th day/eve at dinner time, I was having issues eating, kept getting the foamies. Approx an hr or so later, I was bad off and told Sig OT it was time to head to the ER. It was labor day weekend. Not a good time to get sick!! Hospitals are very full. Sat in the waiting room of the ER for 5.5 hrs, as I was curled up in a ball, whining, rocking and puking. You know your body, if something just doesn't seem right- go to the ER or whatever is available, seek help- don't try and self diagnose!

After a couple hrs in the bed of the ER and having to drink some horrid contrast stuff and have a CT scan, I was admitted into the Hospital for what turned out to be a 5 day stay. MY surgeon was not called even tho I made several requests that he be called, When he came in after the weekend he told me he was sorry but not to worry I would be taken care of, after his other 8 surgeries ahead of me.

I had a bowel obstruction, My intestine had folded in one spot, twisted in a another spot and herniated into its self. He told me I was pretty sick and lucky. He took very good care of me,just like he said he would.

To this day I have had no other issues, I feel great, have made it past the Doctors goal and working on my personal goals. I have made sure to follow the program and get in plenty of exercise. I am my own worst critic on what I at,do, etc... It has gotten me to where I need to be. I have strayed from the path a couple of times. To me it has been within reason, we are NOT perfect.

I tell you all this (sorry if it is long) so that you know the good and the bad, not to scare you. Life happens and we deal with it as things come along. It is a hard road that takes a lot of planning and being dedicated to your new ways. It is so WORTH it in the end!!

Would I do it again, the answer is Yes.

Wishing you the very best of everything and know if you need a sounding board, friend to chat with etc... I am usually around these boards, give me a shout.

Thank you for what you said that was so sweet and it does help.  How long did it take for you to get back to work? Or to just get back on your feet and get going again?

First off congrats on getting a date and coming close to starting your new life!

I am in Fargo and did not have your Dr.  I have heard a couple people talk about him and they seem very happy with him.  I am sure you will be in good hands!!

It is normal to get jittery, nervous etc.. as your date nears, we are human and it happens.  Take a couple deep breaths and try and relax. You will need all your extra energy to recover and start your new lifestyle. Your kids will have a mom that is full of "lets go" energy soon.

Wishing you the very best and keep us posted!

Topic: My Surgery 7/27/2009!!!
Hello Everyone, I’m going to have the Gastric Bypass done 7/27/09 in Bismarck with Dr. Burderer. Now I have been to him and met with his staff a few times, and think that they are all very nice people. I’m a single mother of 2 and getting very nervous about this. I have heard a few good things about Dr. Burderer and bad things. I want to see if I can hear from people that have just gone through this or have had him as a Dr. I know this sounds a little crazy because I have my surgery in a few weeks, I think my nervous are winning. Thanks,
Nicole
