Sorry I'm so late congratulating you on your homecoming. Hope your healing process is going smoothly. It's such a big adjustment! How was your hospital stay? I thought the staff at MeritCare were awesome. How long are you off work? I took 2 weeks. That first week I thought there's no way I can go back in only 2 weeks but now I am getting anxious to go back. I return to work on Tues. Sept. 8. Just take it slow with the eating. I got so tired of that puree that first week but I stuck with it. I then tried to progress to regular food that was ground up or cooked to mush. Things didn't stay down so I have continued with more liquids in my diet. Yesterday I tried tuna and it stayed down and no cramping. I also tend to rush thru my meals so it's been a challange to just take my time. I do get full after a several bites anyway. I also expected to see more weight loss right away but from others comments I see that isn't how it goes. So, it's a journey and you learn along the way. I go for my 2 week post op today, I am seeing Rachael, she is just wonderful! Take care! Any questions, just ask.

Hope you're adjusting well. Today is the first day I've really felt decent. Except those darn protein drinks, I can hardly stand them anymore. Some one told me to freeze them so I'm going to try that. Anyway, hang in there. I'll post some pics as I progress.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site. I had my surgery 8-21-09. What a big adjustment it's been! I will be using this site for information and support. Glad I found it!!

Welcome home you loser! Takes on a whole different meaning to be called a loser now!
Glad surgery went well and know your in caring hands with your other half there.
The tree puree meals were ok for me, I added a dash of salt/pepper to them for added flavor. Makes life easy with those on hand, by the time your done with those, you will not want to ever see them again LOL I cut my tree puree's into four meals and those helpings were a bit big some days too, best of luck.
Take the drugs as needed, sip lots of liquids, walk around as much as tolerated and take time to heal. All this is very important at this stage of the game. I will share with you now that you most likely wont get in the 60 oz or the 60 proteins right out of the gate, don't freak out about the numbers, do what you can and try to push that button more each time, it will all get better.

Hugs to you Grandma!!
Having grand kids is a wonderful thing! They are such gems in the rough. We will be having grandchild 11 end of March early April. This from the child (27 yrs old) who was told would never be able to have kids, due to his ill health in childhood. Love to prove the odds wrong!
Your post gave me goosebumps!!
Hope to see you at one of the groups next month

I am still sore but that is because they found a 6 year old hernia I didn't know about and fixed that also while they were in there.

I just found out that my son and daughter-in-law are expecting my first grand child! I am soooooo excited. They live right here, so I get to watch my grand baby grow.....something I didn't have when my kids were little (our parents lived 300 miles either direction and missed a lot of my kids growing up).
Anyway......baby is due in March!
