Sorry I missed the meeting this evening!  I have been working so much (because I'll have at least a week of unpaid time off from work) that I needed some much deserved family time.  It's not good when your two year old says "No work, Mama."  It broke my heart!!!

Thank you again for all of the support everyone, hopefully I can make the next meeting!

Take care everyone!
Jessica

Is the meeting on the 15th or the 18th???  If it's the 15th, I'll try to make it.

Topic: RE: Exercise
Exercise, Exercise, come on everybody do your exercise!! Touch your toes, touch your nose, come on everybody do your exercise! LOL ok, no more song.

It seems I still don't get in enough exercise to my liking. However I am sure I get in enough according to my medical team. I have had to slow down in the last couple months or so. Now, who would of ever thought someone, any of us would have to say that!

I walk at the Mall with my walking buddy Steph. I do this whenever our schedules allow. I work in a middle school, so I am on the go constantly. When I am out in the community shopping or such, I will speed walk to the buildings or even run! It feels so good to be able to do any of that.

I have 2 (yes 2) gym memberships- they do not get used as much as they should. I just find it more fun to be out among the people and not in a sweaty gym LOL

During the spring/summer and early fall I ride my bike as much as possible. I love taking it with when traveling and making use of it in parks etc.. Last summer I even took out my old set of stilts and walked around  our street (Cul da sac) on them, even tho that was a small area it was a work out.

You can find all kinds of exercise no matter where you are. It doesn't have to cost you anything. All we have to do is apply ourselves and "just do it"

Anyone in the local F-M area is more then welcome to come walks the mall with us and community during the nice months. Just let one of us know your interested.
We are also gearing up for the Fargo Marathon in May. That Friday eve is the 5K, nice 3 mile walk/run with lots of support along the way. That Saturday morning is the other parts of the marathon (10K,1/2,full and relay). Get registered and we can form a group. I know I am aiming for the 5k again this year and hopefully the half marathon. You do NOT have to run! Just thought I would put that out there LOL

Keep in touch
(great post Steph!)

Stedix,

Congrats on your up-coming lifestyle change! It will be one hell of a ride. Hang on tight and enjoy all that your new life is going to offer. It is just amazing the changes you will go through. I will sound like a broken record to most people, but most of this information is good.

1. Take pictures each month, great reference to look back on. The where you were and where you are factor.
2. If at all able, take your measurements. This is a great tool down the road. There will be times your weight loss will stall and you will become frustrated thinking your doing something wrong. That is not the case, when we are not losing pounds we are losing inches.
3. Not sure what program you are with (Innovis/Meritcare) but follow your programs rules and you will do great.
4. Work on getting a routine down ahead of time. This will help with your transgression after.
5. Bring chap stick with to the hospital. You will need/want it.
6. Make sure you have stock in your house of all the food/drink items you will need for the first couple weeks after, this helps in case your just not feeling up to shopping. I know I didn't feel the urge to run out to the stores LOL
.6. Relax and let everything work for you, enjoy your family and company as much as you can.
7. Sip,sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, and lots of rest in between.

When doing the math for everything you need to do in a day, you will become overwhelmed and the numbers will not add up. It does become easier in time, don't fret the small stuff.

There will be times where you just can not get in all 60 grams of protein,64 oz of liquids and all your supplements. Relax, Rome was not built in a day.

Remember supplements and protein first and foremost. Liquids will keep you out of the hospital for being dehydrated. Do what you can and work as hard as you can. You will do wonderful!!

Attending support groups is a positive thing!
Innovis meets Feb 15th- lower level of hospital, through double doors and on the left 6pm-730 pm
Meritcare meets Feb.23rd 630-730pm in the auditorium.
Hope to see you at one of them. Each are open to ALL, no matter what group you are with and at what part of your journey you are at.

Jessica,

First off congrats on getting ready to begin your new journey! It will be one hell of a ride so hang on tight. Take lots of notes for the next couple years, keeping track of all the milestones you will leap over. Take many pictures each month, it is wonderful to have them and look back to where you came from and the OMG factor of where you landed. I also kept track of my measurements. I measured everything from the neck to my ankles. Each month I re-measured. It was unbelievable on how much changes were going on. Remember there will be plenty of stalls, when your not losing pounds your losing inches, everyone has different losses and yours will also be different as will the rates to which a person looses.

Please come to the last support group meeting before your surgery, you will get much last minute needed support. Feb 18th @ 6 pm- 730 pm in the lower level at Innovis Hospital (32nd Ave). Through the double doors and on your left you will find us! Really hope to see you there.
