I need to get much better about exercising.  I've been doing some eliptical, walking and weights, but not close to enough.  I'm trying to motivate myself but so far I'm not doing a great job.  Tammi

Exercise, Exercise, come on everybody do your exercise!! Touch your toes, touch your nose, come on everybody do your exercise! LOL ok, no more song.

It seems I still don't get in enough exercise to my liking. However I am sure I get in enough according to my medical team. I have had to slow down in the last couple months or so. Now, who would of ever thought someone, any of us would have to say that!

I walk at the Mall with my walking buddy Steph. I do this whenever our schedules allow. I work in a middle school, so I am on the go constantly. When I am out in the community shopping or such, I will speed walk to the buildings or even run! It feels so good to be able to do any of that.

I have 2 (yes 2) gym memberships- they do not get used as much as they should. I just find it more fun to be out among the people and not in a sweaty gym LOL

During the spring/summer and early fall I ride my bike as much as possible. I love taking it with when traveling and making use of it in parks etc.. Last summer I even took out my old set of stilts and walked around  our street (Cul da sac) on them, even tho that was a small area it was a work out.

You can find all kinds of exercise no matter where you are. It doesn't have to cost you anything. All we have to do is apply ourselves and "just do it"

Anyone in the local F-M area is more then welcome to come walks the mall with us and community during the nice months. Just let one of us know your interested.
We are also gearing up for the Fargo Marathon in May. That Friday eve is the 5K, nice 3 mile walk/run with lots of support along the way. That Saturday morning is the other parts of the marathon (10K,1/2,full and relay). Get registered and we can form a group. I know I am aiming for the 5k again this year and hopefully the half marathon. You do NOT have to run! Just thought I would put that out there LOL

Keep in touch
(great post Steph!)

Kelly,
I must say you are my exercising inspiration!!

No kidding aside, I feel like everytime I get on a good exercise kick and am totally motivated to keep at it, I get sick or feel ill soon after and then my desire to make it a habit ends b/c of that...and then when I feel better again I basically have to start all over. It just gets frustrating after awhile and you stop wanting to start over and over and over.
And then I hurt my knee so its making it hard to power walk or lightly jog. What I should be doing is elliptical or biking but with two young kids the eves go so icredibly fast as it is - there literally doesn't seem to be time or energy left.

I've been trying to climb the 3 flights of stairs in my work building 10x on my lunch break but its a start and stop habit...

But I think that has been my hugest problem to date. Not exercising nearly, or remotely enough.

In order to lose weight we have to restrict calories, in order to maintain, we have to exercise.  By doing both together, we lose faster and develop great maintenance habits.

I work out 5 days a week at Merit Care.  I also do Pilates at home and walk the dog.  I too love being outdoors, but that is not always possible.

There is a group of WLS people who will be running/walking in the Fargo 5K.  We will have the same shirts on, so we will be easy to spot.  Anyone that would like to join us is more than welcome.
