Thanks for sharing. I always like to hear success stories of people years out beyond myself. Sounds like you are doing great - glad your labs turned out so well. Thanks for encouraging me that it's definitely possible to be successful long term!!!

Doing my yearly check-in.... I will be 5 years out in a few days.
Doing well... had my yearly physical and all my bloodwork came back excellent, my iron is a little high so I am cutting back on my iron suppliments but otherwise doing excellent. I am still dilligent about taking all my suppliments/vitamins and making sure to get in my protein and all that good stuff!
Still maintaining my loss... I am up around 3-4lbs since my lowest but have been holding steady there. I have been recommitting myself to eating better and working out more. I have been having issues with my hip which has put a damper but with this nicer weather I am getting back out there and working out. I have noticed as I am getting older eating/exercise is much more imporant... also how my body is carrying weight is changing... getting old stinks! LoL.
I am very proud of how far Ive come over the past 5 years and that I have been successful at not only losing weight but keeping it off.
This surgery is for life, you have to go in knowing that you will always be a gastric bypass patient and have to be dilligent about your vits/supps follow ups with the Drs and following a healthy diet.. the surgery is a tool its up to you to use it!

It is odd not having any homework or classes to go to. I think this summer may drive me crazy. I have finished a set of six books in a series and added them to my reading blog. Now I need to do something away from the couch I think. At least this week I have stuff to look forward to. It contains third Thursday and third Saturday so I have two support meetings to attend. I also have to get the hubby to the airport on Tuesday AM and pick him up Thursday afternoon. Hopefully he will come home with the job offer to accept. I think New Mexico could be an adventure and give me blog fodder LOL! At any rate anything is better than not knowing whats around the bend.

Its more typical to lose 5 or 10 pounds on that two week liver shrinking diet just before surgery. Do not get discouraged. Without surgery it can take a year to lose 30 pounds for most people.

Hi all,
I hope you are having a fab weekend. Today we pick up my mother in law and take her to church, lunch and Whole Foods. I am thinking about getting some yarn and start making another hat. I am to the point where if my hands aren't busy doing something, other than puter, I get bored. I don't like bored.
Time is running out and we need that miracle money to show up so we can get our stuff. I just have to have more faith I guess. We are getting along fine in our empty house though. I love this house.
Anyway, keep in touch all.

I totally understand what you are going through. Just keep up the good work and hang tough. This is the beggining of your journey. It's not easy but it will be worth it.
