I am still very excited about the surgery. Only had one anxiety moment a few days ago. I love this site and have gotten so much info. I also bought a couple of books about the surgery - I actually found Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies a big help. I go by what the Dr. said on specifics but the overal book was/is helpful. Now my brain is frozen. Can't hardly remember it all. But that's ok, I'll have the info in the brain or the collective wisdom of this site to fall back on.
Thanks y'all!
Good luck

Yikes, I need to find an experienced knitter. Made a big mistake. I got a call that my dress is done so I need to pack it up for shipping to CA. Going by the shoe store today to get some shoes and find a purse. I was hoping the storage issue would be solved by now. I'd have my clothes, oh well. So, shop, ship, doctor appointment and I think that is it for today. Oh, pack of course. It's only in the 60s out there so I won't have much to pack lol. What's on your agenda?
Be mindful today of those overseas and state side who are serving to keep our freedoms in tact.
Didn't make it to the concert. It was so hot and sticky and we were out in it most of the day so we stayed in to be cool.
Today hubby works 11-7 so I will be at home with the dog. Nothing planned. I need to start making connections. This loneness is getting to me. Anyway, tomorrow and Wednesday is super busy with preparing for CA!

Found myself digging for granola again tonight (that stuff is so good but high in carbs, so I need to stay far far away from it) so I went and got a SF popsicle and some ice to munch on. I dont chew the ice I more or less sit there running it back and forth over my teeth with my tongue, do that long enough and the head quits screaming it wants food and the teeth scream for relief from the cold. LOL!!!! I also use the ice when i get to craving a cigarrette, I quit awhile back and still have those cravings from time to time. Hopefully those become almost nonexistant.

Most seared/grilled meats are wonderful and great with a bed of colorful carbs which allows you to have a high protein, low carb diet that is flavorful. Re: 'Boiled' meats, I do a lot of 'braised' meats, but not boiled because boiling tends to actually remove flavors and leave the meats tough. Be sure that you are adding spices and herbs to your meals so that you can enjoy what you are eating. No matter what stage you are in the process, you should not have eat stuff that tastes yuck... especially post op. Once you have your surgery, you will have limited real estate for food and I always want every bite to be nothing short of WONDERFUL since I can't have much. There are a few things you can try. For example, for the chicken, you can make a wonderful stuffing for tacos by cooking the boneless, skinless pieces of breast or thigh meat in a crock pot with a can of Rotel with Green Chiles and some taco season mix. It will be moist and flavorful. You can take the meat and serve it over baby spring greens that are full of vitamins and minerals, then add some tomatoes, and some other colorful carbs and you'll have a delightful lunch or dinner. Of course, there are plenty of other things you can do, but that's one of many.
Good luck!

Jackie,
I'm so sorry to hear of your struggles. Please do know that it is temporary and things do get better. That said, this journey can be difficult under the best of cir****tances. When you add a complication such as yours, it can make a difficult journey seem unbearable. The good news is that it does get better and I nearly every person I have ever talked to has been happy they did it once they get past the rough patch you are and are seeing and experiencing the benefits of the weight loss.
As Deb mentioned, it's not unusual for people to experience crying jags post op. If it is difficult to manage, you may want to contact the Psych professional with your program to see if they can help. If it is possible to attend any support groups, please do. It helps to be able to talk to those who are walking the road you are walking, even if they aren't quite in your shoes. Also be sure to come here; you will find people who have 'been there' and understand. Sometimes, it's hard for those who haven't experienced this to understand.
Be gentle with yourself. Please know that this too shall pass and very soon you will begin reaping the benefits of the surgery.
Wishing you all the best as you move forward,
Barbara
