Well I did Day One of the C25K and I feel like I am gunna fall over, Jello legs and twinging lower back muscles, BUT I did it. I even DOUBLED the workout itself by starting it back over, so I probably did about 4 1/2 miles today, NOT bad- that means I did a 5k and then some. I did it outside on the track over at Pope Fitness center. Took me like 2 hours. Yea I know thats a long time but darnit I am out of shape. After smoking for many years and quitting a couple of months ago, I think I did pretty well. But that protein shake went down right after because I knew I would cramp if I didnt do it. I think instead of doing it three days like it calls for, I might do it 5 days a week at most.

Anyhoo the rest of the day is going to be spent finishing cleaning up my house and getting the laundry done. Might do yard work later. I dunno why but I feel energetic today.

Hope everyone has a great day.....

No to be honest I get the feeling I was the fat friend of the bunch. There is always at least one of those in a group and looking back it was me ALL the time. I also look back and realize I was also the brunt of a lot of the jokes. Man what it takes to make a person take a second or 12th look at a situation from the outside. My DH told me that I did not need THOSE types of people and that no matter what he had my back.

Bonnie, that is awful that these so-called friends would be so heartless. Maybe they think they have your best interests in mind but what they did was harsh. But, DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF! You've got all of US!

We all know the risks of mortality. We all know the health risks without surgery. We have all been on every diet known to mankind. We've tried exercise programs and sweated to every song ever recorded. There comes a time when we need to utilize the proper tools and wls is that tool.

Your "friend" that said not to contact her wasn't a friend to begin with. Someone who loves you doesn't do that. I have a very dear friend, the best for over 25 yrs, that is suffering from MO with co-mobidity issues. She also has a lack of insurance that prevents her from having the wls that her cardiologist wants her to have. If I had the money, she would be going through the same steps with me right now, I love her and want her to be healthy and strong. People who love you want you to be healthy and the best you can be.

Again, we are all here for you and will support you every step of the way. Many ((((Hugs))))

Just curious, are the "friends" over weight too (especially the one who said to not call her)? My friends had various reactions. Almost all of them said "why are you doing that?" At surgery I weighed in at 290 (down from 330 when my wife died two years ago).

I just realized something today that the only person I can really rely on is me. I am saying this because several people I thought would back me on decisions (decisions that are good for me) actually want to sabotage me.
Case in point: I was asking a question of a friend and there were other people there I have known for years and have always supported me, well anyhoo I asked this friend what she thought of any kind of WLS. I was just being curious. Well she of course did what I thought she was going to do and automatically launched into the "I know someone who did it and....blah blah blah!!" I knew she of all people would do it. But these other people surprised me and just went off the deep end. Saying things that took me by surprise. THings such as WLS is the easy way out. You know you can die from that. Why do you need it (never told them I was considering it, they assumed I was)? And of course the old- just stop eating so much and exercise more. LOL.
I had to very gently explain that YES I am getting it done and YES I know I could possibly die and if eating less and exercising more actually worked for majority of people there would be no such thing as WLS.
Now a few of them are refusing to talk to me because they are dead set against it, while the others just seem to be in total shock that I have been going through all this and never told them. I guess in the back of my head I knew they would be like that but I was in denial, which is probably why I did not say anything until now. The "friend" has asked me not to call her again or even acknowledge her if I see her around. Shouldn't be that hard since things started going downhill slowly for her and I about 5 months ago. But it still does hurt a bit for people I thought would be there for me to just turn their backs. So that is why I said the only person I can really rely on is myself.

P.S. Even had one of them tell me about that woman who lost 300 pounds on her own. I had to quip back that for every 100 people that loose that much weight only 3% can keep it off effectively. I got called a liar and a know it all. AHH WELL

Topic: Happy Sunday Roll Call
Hi all,

I had fun yesterday!  I went shopping, yup.  I got tired of my so few clothes and hubby's complaining about how I dress so I went to Penny's and got me a nice sundress and a shrug.  I also went to Target and got some earrings and a necklace, and a small purse.  Now the real purpose of going shopping was to get a couple of gates for the kitchen to keep the dog in.  Went to Babys r Us and picked up the last two cheapy ones.  Wow, I felt so nice with that dress on.  Now, I have something more to wear.  This thing with the movers is really getting me down.

Anyway, today is church and a picnic.  He will probably want me to wear my sundress to the picnic.  Have a great day all.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Glad to hear you are doing well and living life like it should be lived.  Isn't being healthy and "normal" a wonderful thing?

Keep up the great work!

Hello and welcome to OH. It is a journey for sure but if you stay on top of everything your day will be here before you know it.
We all know about "the other things" that doctors want a person to try before WWLS, if they worked for everyone there would be no diets and no WLS.
If you haven't decided on a surgery type yet, please please do ALOT on the one(s) you are really interested in. I see you said you have done research but it never hurts to do more. Things like risk factors, rates of healing on average and overall lifetime costs are also things you want to look into. Bear in mind you will probably have to be on vitamins the rest of your life, some people dont but majority do.
I am NOT trying to talk you out of it just making sure that you are aware there are alot of other things involved than the stuff in print. Talk to people who have had it done. Do NOT let anyone sabotage you into not doing something you feel is right for you.
The people here are wonderful for the most part, but there are a few who are snarky (mostly on the main board).

I have nont had my surgery yet but as soon as my stress test is done and results come back I will have a surgery date (barring anything bad ont eh stresstest).

Again welcome and hope you get what you need from this site.

P.S. I love the avatar, too cute.
