Been fighting off illness...not working very well. Have been sick since Monday night. I have blown off the trainer and my walking buddy so far this week because of it. Hopefully I will feel better before the weekend!

Been applying to jobs too. Had an interview this past Monday. That went fine. Made it to the 2nd round which is testing but that's not til the 13th. Still waiting to hear back from the other place. I hate waiting on them!

Also stressing about our annual 4th of July party. Have to get everything by Saturday and clean the house. But it's worth it!

Hi

Study rooms are available any time.  The conference room is a whole different ball game.  Once we grow beyond eight, we will have to find another meeting place.  I will use my usual email list to contact members and keep them posted.  This has worked for me in the past.  Some day, I will use something like MeetUp.  All in good time.

Anyway, talk to you soon.

Hi all,

Wow, what awesome rain we had yesterday.  The ground really needed it.  I hope all of you stayed safe.

Today, well, I need to check on a few things.  Apply for more jobs and my usual walks with my dog.  I did miss all the wonderful walking/biking trails down here.  Oh there were places to walk in PA but not like here.  Found a new trail over by Woodcroft.  I will explore that more later.

What's going on with you all?

I can honestly say I have dumped on watermelon, raisens, craisens.

I do better if I eat protien with my fruit.

I can eat grapes, strawberries,

pineapple has a lot of natural sugars

prunes  have like astronomical amounts of sugar in them.  IF you eat one try to eat protien with it

Some people say they don't dump on fruits, I do so be careful!!!

Topic: A question about fruit
Ok I absolutely love fruit. My thing is what kinds of fruit can I eat? I mean I have ate grapes, watermelon, lpums and I also can eat raisins. Does anyone know if something like prunes is ok? Is there a site I can go to that can kind of help me with knowing how much sugar is in certain kinds of fruit? I do remember my dr saying that as long as the fruit is naturally sweetened thats ok. At least I think thats what he said. PLEASE someone help me. I need my fruits lol.

Thank you so much Barbara. I am going to definatwly try some if not all of the things you suggested. The bad habits are coming back and I want to stop them before I start gaining the weight back again.
Again thank you for the suggestions!

Hi Emelinda,

Welcome back! It's not uncommon for old habits to start creeping in about now that's why continued contact and support is so important to our long term success. If you can connect with the new support group that Janice D has started in Roanoak Rapids that could go a long way. Another thing is that it's important to be sure to follow the rules of the pouch. Make sure that you don't drink 30 minutes before, during or after your meals. Make sure that you start your meals with 4 to 6 ounces of lean protein and then go for the colorful carbs. Limit simple carbs. If you are not doing so now, start logging your intake. Also, if you are not doing so now, start weighing yourself regularly; that might daily or weekly, but regularly. Start wearing a pedometer if you are not already doing so; this will remind you to move more and keep you in a frame of mind that reminds you to take care of yourself. Remember to shoot for 10K steps a day at a minimum. Start keeping a journal and log how you are feeling when you are eating; happy, sad, mad, bored, etc... Sometimes the 'awareness' that this develops helps us make better decisions. Another thing that I do, is start my day thinking of something that I am grateful for since I lost my weight as it relates to each of these areas: health, quality of life, appearance and self esteem. I think about what is important to me in each of these areas; then, as I go through my day I ask myself if the decision I am making supports those things that are important to me. When I started doing this I wrote it down and carried a notebook with me. It may seem extreme, but it really helped me get me weight gain under control and allow me to lose the weight I had regained.

I hope that some of these things might help you.

Hi Paula,

I'm not sure how it works in Durham Co, but I know that in Wake Co., I could not book the meeting more than one month in advance, as you say it could be booked by someone else, it had to be a meeting that would be open to the public and you could not collect dues. Of course, for me collecting dues was not an issue until I needed help to pay for the website used to schedule meetings and you might find another avenue that works better for that.

I wish you all the best as you get the Durham Support Group off the ground.
