HI all,

It's a nice cool morning.  Not a cloud in the sky.  I hope your day goes well.  I am up to the same o same o.  I did have a  nice visit with a friend yesterday.  She is having some health issue and has gained back a lot of weight.  I feel bad for her.

Anyway, any of you going to the Ino Festival this weekend?  I will be in the watermelon drink booth on Monday morning.  Stop by if you are around.

Yesterday I spent a great deal of the day doing yard work or recovering from doing yard work. I weeded beds, deadheaded and mowed the lawn. I hate yard work, but love the associated benefits... garden and body, so I do it anyway.

Today I started the day off with housework and then off to see my counselor. Life continues to be difficult and it was a harder than usual session... I can't wait for that to get better... I've been saying that for a while, but maybe it will happen.

My weight had inched up a bit and I've whittled it back down again by paying more attention to protein and being more careful of my carb intake.

@ Paula -- Good luck with the Dentist office and the job hunt. BTW, I think you are right, friends are such an important part of life and one that I think we often take for granted until we find ourselves alone again. I'm glad you are able to reconnect with your friends here in the Triangle.

Emelinda,

You should be able to any type of fruit this far out. Some people are more 'carb' sensitive than others and may need to steer clear of fruits with very high sugar contents, such as pineapple, but generally you can eat fruit and not worry to much about it. The more fiber in the fruit the better because it causes your system to work a little more to process it.

You may want to call your surgeon's office and pose this question to their Registered Dietician. You should be able to have access to them 'forever,' not just the first few months post op.

Remember that you want to make sure that you are getting in that lean protein and supplementing that lean protein with the colorful carbs that make up all of those yummy fruits and vegitables.  Something like grilled chicken or shrimp on a bed of baby spinach with some slivered almonds and berries, such as blue berries, strawberries or raspberries make a lovely salad that provides a wonderful balance of protein and colorful carbs.

I hope that this helps.

All the best,

Barbara

Hi all,

Today is dentist, eeek.  Then going into Raleigh to visit a friend, finally.  I need friends.  I didn't realize how many I had made when I was in PA.  Anyway, after that, more job hunting.  I think I may have a part time opportunity I may be able to do.  I will share when I decide.

I love fruit as well. I can eat grapes, bananas, oranges (my fav), watermelon, cantelope, strawberries - pretty much anything. I've never had a problem with fruit and I was also told that fruit is an ok thing to eat. Granted, only after you've gotten your protein in, of course. I regularly eat fruit as a snack and a lot of times with a meal. Generally, you can simply google "nutritional info for [insert fruit]" and you'll get the info you're looking for.

Good luck!
