Topic: RE: OMG the type of surgery bashing....
Totally agree! In fact, there's so much negativity on here that I hesitate to post ANYTHING. lol I do a lot of lurking and reading to filter out the worthwhile posts. I agree that it's a personal choice. If you make a wrong decision, well it's your decision to make. I also see people complaining about people not knowing enough about their surgeries. I thought that one of the purposes of this board was for people to use it as a tool to talk to other people so they could find more information.
The saddest part is that most of these people are veterans of the board and/or weightloss surgery. They have so much information to share with us all, but some people just don't have people skills and express themselves in a manner that's off putting. When people act that way, it discredits everything they say from my perspective.
"why are you letting your surgeon treat you like a ginuea pig", "that surgery is just plain butchery", "you're clueless", etc.
This board is a convenient source of information, but sometimes only the squeeky wheels can be heard. lol There are a lot of super friendly and supportive people on here that can give you the "bad" news while not slaughtering your feelings.
I have developed a philosophy on this board. I see people bashing other surgeries, making statements like "there are loads of people with that surgery having revisions, or that regret their decision". My take is that if there are 200 lapband/rny/sleeve patients on this board, and 150 of them are unhappy or unsuccessful with their surgery....does that really mean that 3/4ths of the that surgery type are unsuccessful? Bashers sure try to push that belief. Based on the number of people in real life that I know and see being successful with their weightloss surgery of choice I am of the opinion that there are lots of people not on this board...just happy, living their new lives. lol
Some people come back to the board after surgery to connect, stay informed, and offer suggestions. Some people come back because they are unhappy or had a bad experience and want to warn people. Both are good intentions, but sometimes people are so consumed and passionate about their experience that it just comes out badly. I try not to think badly of them. I appreciate their willingness to share their trauma as a warning to others of what could happen...but like you I just wish they could take a deep breath before they posted!

Ok, there was more to my response but it looks like it was cut off for some reason.
Does Tricare have a website where you can look for providers online? If not, call the member services line (usually listed on the back of your card) and they should be able to look up local drs for you.
Good luck with everything!

Fantastic news about your furniture!! Is that a result of Channel 11 intervening?
I'm doing laundry right now. I hate chores! Will be going to visit the personal trainer at 5:30.
That's about it on my agenda today!

Ok lets see what I already did.
Ran to the bank to take out our weekly allowance- yep i gots us on an allowance.
Got a prepaid bank card for the DH's neice who is getting married Saturday.
Ran to Food Lion to pick up three things that the commissary doesn't sell.
Went to Wal-mart to get a card and printer ink.
Went to Walgreens and got DH his nasty smokes- BLEH!!!!!
Then out the the commissary where I discovered that my lil friend FLO had shown up (thing is early), so had to make sure I didn't have an accident... GAHHH!!!!!
Finished the grocery shopping.
Called sister while A/C was cooling off, I was NOT driving back here in that heat w/o the AC being on, uh uh.
Got home- seperated out the meats and repackaged them, put everything away and sat down to stave off a slight dizzy feeling. NOT ENOUGH WATER this morning apparently.
I guess I will be finishing up our living room this evening and then hitting our bedroom to go through clothes and other stuff. I am tired. I THOUGHT I had done everything in here but a few things have been misplaced so I am tearing the house up lookign for them AND cleaning better once I have looked in each room.
SO that is going to be my day.
Glad to hear you won't have to pay a small fortune to get your stuff back, sucks that you have to pay anything actually but them are the ropes I guess. Good luck and hope you get your stuff soon.

Hey Sweetie! Ya know, if we could lose weight on a diet then we would not have our guts rearranged, would we? lol. Hang in there, it took me about 18 months to get to my surgery day, but I used that time for research and recovery from my food addiction. Once I had my surgery I used that tool along with the knowlege to be successful. Prepare for the ride of your life!

Hi Kim!
I'm new too. I also just started my journey! I'm in Raleigh...so far I've had the initial consult with my surgeon. On 8/4 I have the sleep study and on 8/11 I meet with the nutritionist.
Good luck to you!!
