It is just so hard to try to tell people you are sick and they think you are crazy. After a while I started thinking I was too. My son is the only one never gave up on me. Thank you for your storie. It really gives me so much hope. My prime Doctor thinks i'm on my last. She don't think I am able to be put to sleep but I will talk to them at the hospital to see what they think. That is some thing they do all the time everyday. They would know.  Thank you so much.

Today I weighed in at the same weight. Not dropped any since last Sunday. Oh well. I still went to the gym today and put in a 32 min treadmill workout. Tomorrow I go back for yoga and i'm happy about that!

Today was my little girl's first appointment of speech therapy. It went well and i think she is going to do better than she did last year with PT. it was a good distraction to go right to the gym after her session. those sessions really stress me out. And that always leads to emotional eating.

Tomorrow is hair cut, eye brow wax, shop for new shirt day. Getting ready for my interview Friday. Then yoga tomorrow. i'm determined to get down into the 220's!

You ladies are inspiring me! I don't even know where a thrift store in Greenville is located! LOL! I might do some looking around. My friend told me over the phone today that I REALLY needed to get new clothing. Ouch. Got the memo!

I was so discuraged after a weekend of not finding anything. Maybe it was meant to be. I  back went to a PTO thrift shop and looked again.  I found Ann Taylor capris for a dollar. DKNY for a dollar.  I didnt look at dressy stuff  but I may go back today. I do need to find something for my upcoming high school reunion in 2 weeks.

Barbara, here is the catcher.  My hubby is in Afghanistan  and I told him I would be needing to spend about 200 or so on clothes this month.  I spent 16.00. So I am going to take the extra money and go out for a new hair do and nails and pedicure. : )

So all around a Win Win!

Hi all,

The support group meeting went well.  Not many showed up. This is very typical of new groups.  I can remember for months sitting in the room by myself in PA not willing to give up.  Got home and found my five OH Magazines waiting for me. So, I will have those to share next month!

Just got sent the Release for our stuff.  I serve a great God.  All they want is $850 deposited into their account and we have the month of August to get it out.  Now, we pray for the funds.  This is so much better than the $3060 plus storage as originally demanded.

Tonight I am going to church. They are having a special speaker. Today, I don't have a lot planned.  It's going to be another hot one!

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Amy,

I'm delighted that you have a diagnosis. My mother had a completely different issue, but like you spent years chasing around trying to get someone to pay attention and listen to her. They even made her go see a Psych because they told her it was in her head... Hmmmm... after the angiogram they said was pointless, but we pushed for showed 6 90% blockages they said, 'Oh, there is a problem...' It's kind of a double edged sword. You are glad to be validated and have a course of treatment, but sometimes the diagnosis is not what you hoped for. In your case, it sounds like you are hypersensitive to sugar loads and I understant that there is a percentage of the RNY patient population that has that issue, while not really 'common', they aren't unheard of by any means. The same goes for strictures; while they aren't a 'common' complication, they do occur often enough that I'm surprised that someone hadn't scoped you and diagnosed it earlier. That said, I'm so glad to hear that it's been diagnosed now and that it will be addressed so that you can get to a point where you can eat normally again... well, sans the sugar issues. My experience with my mother's strictures, which were GERD based, was that they were manageable, but I know in her case and that of some other WLS patients I know, sometimes it takes a few times to completely manage the issue.... that said, please know that she had significant relief almost immediately and needed fine tuning. She and someof the WLS patients I know have had some recurrance of the strictures, but once they and their Dr's were aware of the problem, they were able to manage it before it became the serious problem that was initially addressed. My mother's Dr said that they can recur because some people have a higher propensity to create more scar tissue... Remember that my mother's issues were related to GERD, so it might be somewhate different, but I do recall that once they took care of the stricutres, they also found a medication that significantly reduced problems with the strictures... actually, it became rare that she had an issue with it after they fine tuned that problem.

Obviously, I'm not a medical person, but  from my own experience with addressing my mother's health issues, like yours went on for years before they were diagnosed, I really sympathize the difficulties and frustations that go along with this kind of thing and the relief that comes with the diagnosis and validation... i.e., you are not crazy and now they can treat and/or manage your health issues to help restore your health so that you can enjoy true quality health. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am soooo happy for you and look forward to hear about the resolution and management of the issues they discovered and your return to good health and the ability to enjoy a wonderful quality of life again.

All the best,

Yay!

I went to a couple of consignment shops with one of my best friends. We both had surgery about the same time... It's amazing some of the unexpected benefits of this journey, but I digress. At any rate, we were both mentioning that now we nearly exclusively shop second hand... And not to be concieted, but I would dare anyone to tell that I dress second hand. I am able to find fabulous things from top rate labels at incredible buys. I bought a fabulous evening frock that was originally nearly 200.00 for 10.00, new with tags, no less!!! It's sooooo much fun! Now, I think I need to go pare down my closet so that I have room for my latest finds. Next, I'll have to find someplace schmancy to wear this fabulous frock... Now if I could just find a cruise at the same kind of discount I can find all of these other sweet finds. Well, that might be asking a bit much, but a girl can hope ;).

I hope that you continue to have success as you look for those gems. It's almost like treasure hunting.

HI all,

Looking forward to the first Durham support group meeting tonight.  I am hoping we can be a unique and exciting group.  I am already working on a great speaker for a future meeting.

I was hoping we could get our stuff this weekend.  I'm not sure now.  I have to wait until I hear back from the bank as to how fast they can do a money transfer.  I am also a bit concerned about covering bills and groceries if we do this move our stuff this weekend. We can be patient a little longer.

What's on your agenda???
How did the meeting go?? I sometimes wish we lived in Raleigh so that I could have more access to events/meetings like that.

This day turned out well! Got a job interview set up for this friday! I'm so happy!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Thyroid dx. It's so hard to deal with that. It sounds like you are in good care now and starting to get some answers! Good luck and I hope you start feeling better very soon.
