Inexpensive hi-protein salty snack

I found a cool snack at Walmart last night...Genisoy Soy Crisps...tastes like Pringles to me....1 serving is 17 crisps (about the size of a potato chip but thicker like rice cakes)...there are 3.5 servings per bag and costs 1.96. Each serving is 110 cal's, 3 grams of fat, 7 grams of protein, and 270 mg of sodium (pretty low on the sodium comparitively speaking). I found them with the rice cakes at the Galleria Walmart on the Matthews side of Charlotte.

I love these-- you can find a few more varieties (Ranch, BBQ) locally at The Fresh Market. Also, Vitamin world at Carolina Place mall has the Genisoy Soy Potato Chips --which are slightly thinner than the soy chips, but lower in calories --about the same protein and fat. They also have the Genisoy soy chips in an apple cinnamon flavor. Sometimes Costco will have Stacy's brand soy chips in White chedder flavor--they are definately the best. Wal Mart also has the Quaker brand White chedder soy chips right next to the rice cakes. they are good too.

Thanks Roberta...I didn't notice the Quaker soy chips but I will definitely look for them next time. I also will try the potato chips. The Vitamin Shoppe at the Target shopping center had Body for Life soy protein snacks on clearance ($2.00 for a box of six 1 serving bags) and I bought them out...I have a big box under my counter full of them, but I am getting a little tired of the lack of variety so having something else to look for is great! I thought I would save a bunch of money on groceries after surgery, but I've found it's fun to go around to the different health food stores and search for high protein, low fat, no sugar types of foods and experiment with recipies. Thanks again for all of your great ideas and recipes.

Misty -- I LOVE the GeniSoy, but I have difficulty with soy digestion. I've found that beef jerky does the trick for me. I get a 4.2 oz. can of Slim Jim (26 individually-wrapped pieces with 1.5 grams of protein each) at Target for $3.99, which is also less expensive per gram than the Genisoy. It takes up very little space in my purse or pocket. I keep a can in my car (along with 5 or 6 bottles of water) in case I get caught somewhere needing a protein hit.
