I am not a very quiet Southerner... Born and raised here! I just had surgery in Raleigh on May 5th,15. I sure would like to hear from some of you for support. This is HARD!!! The protein drinks are making me nauseated and are about impossible to down. Do anyone have ideas about this? I did have the Injury Protein Soup. It has 25 grams of protein. I'm assuming that I can count that as a protein shake...? I'm listening! Anyone out there talking?

Hello and welcome to the world of WLS.  A gram of protein is still a gram regardless of origin of protein.  In the beginning, I got mine from Protein powder I bought at Walmart and still use it. It has 25 grams in each scoop.  I used it in everything. Had my RNY in 9/2009 and  had to ease into a diet that included fruits and veggies.  Still don't eat much beef and when I try it again, it doesn't sit well with my stomach.  Just take your time trying to eat complete meals until your insides are fully healed.  Just aim for water and proteins need for a day.  Eat yogurt, jelly, broths...etc.  Did your surgeon give you directions on how and what to eat in stages?  ANYWAY, best to follow his instructions to a T.  He won't steer you wrong.  Diagnosed with colon cancer in 3/2012.  Had surgery and went thru chemo. Gained 40#'s cause I ate what was brought to me to eat by relatives and neighbors.  Probably wt gain was also due to steroids put into iv's prior  to Chemo treatments.  Steroids can cause wt gain.  Gained 40# but have since lost it again.  Had WLS in Missouri but have since moved back to NC.  BOTH of us born and raised here.  Don't know why we ever left.  Since we got back here last July (2014) have had heart issues and now have a pacemaker so back to normal.  Some say that cancer is the result of WLS but I DON"T AGREE.  Colon cancer takes about 10 years to develop and it had only been ONLY little over 2 years when diagnosed so that's not true.  Rather believe that because I lost 136 #'s, it was easier to find in my new body.   SO anyway, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS and you will lose weight rapidly while still eating healthly.  Remember, new ways of eating is for life otherwise you will revert to obesity.  I don't ever want to go back.  I feel and look so much better.  Good luck to you.  Should go much easier when you have a variety of foods you can eat.  Keep us up to date on your progress.

Just wanted to add to above.  REMEMBER,  Protein takes longer to digest so you won't feel hungry if you make sure you get your daily requirement in.  Nancy
