One Month Down After Revision
It's been a while since I posted with good news so I figured it was about time to change that. I am 4 weeks out from my band-to-RNY revision. Feeling great except the side stitch pain and a little bit of fatigue but that's getting better.
I was cleared for soft foods and exercise on Monday (just in time for Thanksgiving dinner, Yay!). I have lost 27 pounds since my surgery. I'm so excited to finally be losing again.
For those of you who don't know, I had Realize band, March 2009. I lost 37 pounds pre-surgery for the band and lost another 30 pounds after surgery but I had complications with my band because of a vagal nerve response. Therefore, I could not have adjustments without passing out all the time.
I had all the fluid taken out of my band July 2010 and regained about 45 pounds. I was so frustrated that I had made the choice to get the band instead of bypass from the beginning.
I'm so happy with my decision to revise to RNY and I'm so happy with the service I received at Nash Weight Loss Center in Rocky Mount! I actually had the whole wing of the hospital to myself post-op so that meant I had the nurse for that wing to myself too. Talk about personal attention!!!
I just want to share this personal success and I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with anyone who wants more information about these two surgery options. I will be an avid advocate against band but I know that it does work for some so I won't try to push too hard. I think the key is to really do your research and also research your heart to know if you are truly capable of restricting and restraining yourself, since this is almost a requirement with the band.
Ok that was my rant! Take from it what you will.
I wish everyone out there the best Thanksgiving and holiday season! I know I will be enjoying it much more this year because of my hot new body!!! lol
(((Gidget))),
It's about time you had some good news in WLS department. You sure did have a tough go of it the first time around. I'm so happy that you are on the downhill slide again and this time I'm sure you'll be staying at the bottom of this mountain ;-)
I really look forward to seeing less of you soon!
Wishing you continued success and a Happy Thanksgiving,
Barbara
