Introducing Myself

Hello everyone,

I'm Shannon and I'm new here. I have just begun the process of this gastric bypass journey.  I went to an information seminar last month and I decided that the RNY is the right option for me. I'm currently in the process of getting all my "homework" items done. I had an RMR done last week. I have my dietician, fitness, cardiac clearance and psych consults next week. I have an endoscopy on Oct. 28th and then hopefully I can get approval and get a surgery date!

I'm married with four children and I work night shift in a hospital while I'm going to nursing school.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and learning more about what's to come.

Hi Shannon-Hope you get cleared for surgery soon.  I go to CWM also and had surgery on 9/12 but with Dr. Kuwada.  Dr Stephanidis was the surgeon at the seminar I went to and I really liked him!  He had a good sense of humor.  Good luck and hope the next month or 2 pass by quickly!

Kelly,  It's good to see another CWM patient on here. Dr. Kuwada did my information seminar and I really liked him but he was booking up quickly so I chose Dr. Stefanidis.  Can you tell me how long the process took for you from information seminar to surgery? I'm really hoping to have the surgery during my break from school which is Dec. 12- Jan 7th.

I went to the info seminar in April and had surgery in September.  I probably could have gotten all the other things (psych eval, fitness & nutrition eval, etc) done a lot quicker but I had to space everything out due to work.  I actually got my surgery appt in July so I had to wait 8 weeks til my surgery on 9/12.  Hope you can get yours done as planned in December-good luck to you!

Wow, you've got a busy life!  Glad to see you on here!  I also did a Seminar last month & have been doing the homework stuff.  Now, I'm just inpatiently waiting on my 1st appt with the Surgeon in four weeks!  I was praying to have mine done in Dec. also, but I think my Surgeon is already booking for Dec., so I don't see that happening... 

Again...welcome to OH!  I wish more people would post on this board!
