Ten Days Post-Op and in Pain
Hi, everyone. I had my surgery on May 26, and I'm doing very well. I went back to work just 5 days after surgery (I teach at a community college) and did amazingly well. I haven't had any problems following the liquid diet, and I'm feeling pretty good. I can see my ankles again! However, Thursday night, I was in bed and turned on my left side to reach something on my nightstand. As I stretched and pulled on the left side of my body, I felt a horrible stabbing burning pain, so I stopped that! Since then, I've been having that burning, stabbing pain more frequently. It's only when I move a certain way, but it's getting so it happens when I get up and down out of chairs now. I have my two week post-op checkup with my surgeon on Wednesday, and I'm trying not to worry too much. I knew to expect more pain on the left side and that it would take a while for that to ease, but this seems worse and perhaps getting worse than it was. I'm taking liquid Tylenol for the pain, and I'm going to try to take it regularly, every 4 hours today. Has anyone else felt this? I guess I'm worrying after all. Thanks.
Deb's right, this is something where you should get medical advice. I had a sharp pain in my left side as well and it was due to the healing associated with one of the trocar sites, but you should call and get some medical support/advice re: this issue.
Wishing you all the best,
