Newbie at the raleigh Support Group
My surgery is 13 days away - June 3rd. I feel better having met some folks in perosn and I thank the heavens for this OH forum!
Thanks to all who post as well as all who lurk.

I was glad that you were there yesterday and I hope you will continue to attend. Ongoing support is very important and I believe it makes a huge difference in how successful we continue to be. Sorry I am leaving the group because the drive from NM will be a bit too far. But I know you will get and then later be able to give much to those still there and that will join later on. I wish you success and good fortune.

Maggie,
I'm delighted that you and your husband were able to come yesterday. I understand what you mean about becoming more physically active. Believe me when I say that my natural inclination really does lean towards more sedentary enjoyments. That said, I LOVE to DANCE. I'll never be invited to "Dancing with the Stars", but have found that I just love to move to the beat of the music and have found that ZUMBA classes are so much fun. The great part about those classes is that there are so many people there of so many different sizes and levels of experience that I feel absolutely at home. But that's just me. If you look, you will find 'something' that you both can and like to do. In the meantime, try to get yourself a pedometer and see what your current level of 'activity' is. From there, you can start to increase the amount you move a few hundred steps at a time until you work up to the recommended 10K per day. I'll bet you'll be surprised at just how quickly you can rack up those 10K steps.
I'm looking forward to seeing less of you soon,
Barbara
