Thursday Roll Call
This is what we did on the PA list. We would put our thoughts for the day or our plans on each day of the week. So, maybe I would try to start this tradition here. Maybe it will work out.
Here goes. HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!! I am sitting here in the dark in a room full of boxes. I am slowly getting packed up again to move. We just moved into our place here last month. So, now we move again. We are able to take possession of our old house in Durham so that makes me happy. We should be moved in by the end of April. Hubby is trying to arrange a truck to pick everything up.
One thing I love about small towns is the people. They are a trusting lot. I have never lived in a town like this one up here in north central PA. People help each other. They, for the most part, will talk to you. I can remember coming down to NC for a job interview and made a mistake of starting a conversation with someone and I thought they were going to faint. I apologized and said I forgot I wasn't in my small town. So, I will miss here. One thing I won't miss is having to drive an hour to get to a WalMart! Ok, I'm done.
The weather is getting nicer here so that is a plus. I am so cold all the time this is the first year of my life I can't wait for the 80's in temp. Eating is going well and exerciece is still not happening much. I have more excuses than a middle schooler who did not do their homework lol! My weight is stable at low 160's so I am happy with my wls results. I am speaking with my surgeon at the pre-op meeting this Tuesday at Duke, so I am excited about the opportunity to help others in need of obesity treatment.
Nothing else real interesting. Kids sports schedule is keeping me and hubby busy so not much time to get into trouble Ha Ha.
Have a great St Patricks day

I managed to get in over 96 oz. of decaf tea yesterday so I'm hoping I can do the same again today. No problems getting in my vitamins and supplements. I'd love to say that getting in my daily exercise was as easy - but sadly that is still a struggle. I did get in a 20 minute walk yesterday. Hoping that today will be at least that much or more. I did bring my favorite walking shoes and put under my desk so the plan is to walk for a portion of my lunch hour. I love having teenagers - my youngest son showed me how to work all the radio apps on my smartphone last night. So now that I can do that maybe I will walk longer.
I'm sorry you havent encountred the typical NC welcome. Come out to the coast - we'll talk your ears off. Until then jump on here and chat away.

Hi Paula,
Thanks for your check - in thread. We had that going and then it died, but it looks like you've breathed some new life into it. I hope that more people will chime in as we go along.
I'm grateful for the beautiful weather. It makes me want to be more active than I can be right now. If I'm stilling still, I can go for a couple of hours before my back starts to scream at me. I decided to do some light housework this morning and then do some baking. My daughter has a group of friends that meet for lunch each week and the mom's take turns making lunch and desert. It's my turn to do the dessert, so I'm baking cupcakes for the kids. At any rate, I haven't been up that long and my back is just killing me. I was hoping to be farther along with this by now. Ben tells me to remember that the Dr. said it usually takes 3 months or so, but we are just 10 days away from 3 months, so it not only frustrates me, but worries me that this might be as good as it's going to get... and to be honest, it's not good enough.
I've got a corned beef brisket resting on the counter so that it can come up to room temperature before I toss it along with some carrots, red potatoes and cabbage into the over for along slow braise. Gotta love those one pot meals!
I'm also working on revamping or restructuring the format of the monthly support group meetings in hopes that they will flow more smoothly and allow everyone to get something out of them. I'm afraid I'll ruffle a few feathers, but I think some changes are sorely needed and will make it a better experience overall; at least, that's my intent and hope.
Other than that, everything is status quo. My weight is staying steady. I'm working on making sure that I get in plenty of fluids, protein and my supplements. I do a better job some days than others, but overall, I'm doing okay in those areas.
Hope everyone else is enjoying the Luck of the Irish today.
All the best,
Barbara

I had my pre-op appointment today. I was a little distressed to find that the surgery I *thought* was taking place in Durham will actually be in Raleigh. However, since it's not that much of a schlep, I think it will be ok. (I'm working with Duke Weight Loss). So we are in the countdown... April 4th is coming up quickly!
I've been trying to get myself organized in preparation - been heading to the YMCA after work a few days this week, and took a nice little walk around the neighborhood with the little ones. Loving the warmer weather!
In other news, I am desperate for a break from school. My 8th graders are getting SO SQUIRRELY! April 4th begins my Spring Intersession, and boy am I ready for it.
Hope everyone had a lovely day!
Best,
R
I am glad it is starting to warm up. I am so ready for spring and summer I don't know what to do. I love warm seasons. Today was a day, no work! I go back tomorrow. I started my journey and I so excited, nervous, and all the other emotions balled up in one. I will be like this until I have a surgery date which will not be until Oct. at least. Thanks to my insurance. Still I am happy. A lot of good things can happen in those 6 months.
Have a good evening all.
