Checking in

Sorry it has been sooo long but I am still kicking and many times feel I am my own army dealing with family issues, animal stuff, gathering tax info and staying on track with my health and wellbeing.
First off I feel pretty good but have come to relize my extra skin is really just hanging around  and can be a handicapped.
My lymphedema OMG I was not able to get new hose for a few months and before my eyes my lower legs started to blow up with fluid and the hose I had to wear everyday were not helping at all they had major runs and no compression.
About a month ago I was able to get two new pairs of custom made hose.
My legs have started going back down again and I am able to move better and I have ankles again.

I also had to come out of denial about my sleep apnea.
After wls I slelpt  great and thought ok that problem is gone.
No I have a short neck and that will not change unless it is altered.
So I am proud to say I have a brand new pappy on the way in about a month and am using my old machine and sleeping great.
BCBS has just approved a newer smaller machine and I have been approved to get one.

Last monday I saw my pcp because I knew my bp was up sure enough it was so I am on BP meds again and a small dose of ativian for panic attacks I was having.
My doctor said all other labs are great but felt my bp and panic attacks was because of the family stress that has been going on.
Thank God for Alanon and some very dear wls friends who encourage me to go to my meetings.
Alanon really has helped me more than I can say.
Thank you Deb and Lee!!!

Loving my job but they have cut back on demo's but should pick up in March.

The food monster is controlable in fact I have to make myself eat small meals through the day.
I am proud of me for taking care of myself.

BTW loving reworking old recipies with my gas stove there is no better way to cook.
Gotta cut it short get a bite to eat and go have another fitting for a cpap machine mask.

Hey Annie,

I'm so glad to see you on here. I haven't been on this site in a long long time. I hadn't been to a support group meeting in months until this Saturday. I finally made it back. I really missed it. I'm actually back in the program to revise from my gastric band to RNY. Band just hasn't worked for me. I was doing good for a while but it's just too easy to cheat on the band.

I just wanted to say hang in there and that I hope I get to see you soon at the WLS Support group meeting.

Hugs,

Gidget

Hi Gidget,
I have heard so many times about banders having to go to RNY.
I made the choice for RNY because I needed a permant solution.
No regrets will I ever have on my choice.

Went to go see my mom yesterday she says I wish you would get smaller.
She has said this to me before and it hurt my feelings.
So I pointed out to her that I have come a long way and dug my way out of the grave and am very pleased if I dont go lower than 18-16 after wearing 56 I am happy.
I also reminded her I have lots of extra skin and without a knock down drag out fight with the insurance I have to accept I am in a better place than when I was 680lbs.

Also because I have lymphedema many doctors concidar me a high risk for plastics.

I wish I could go to a meeting but I work most weekends.
Come see me at South Point Target on Sunday I am there 11-4

Hi Annie! I am so glad to see you post. I know you will continue to do well and enjoy being in your smaller body. Don't worry too much about your Mom's perception of your size. She has just forgotten how sick you were before. But you know how much better you feel now and how far you have come. Keep taking care of yourself. Its good that you are keeping up with followup care and getting your sleep administered to. We had a speaker at our local support group Thursday night and it turns out obesity is not the only reason some people need treatment for sleep apnea. Just as many normal size people use a cpap for better sleep.

Hi Annie,

It's so very good to see you again. We've missed you, but know that you have been busy with your demonstrations. If you are ever free on the 3rd Saturday of the month, please do stop by.

I have someone I know that would really benefit from talking with you. She'll be having her surgery in April. Maybe we can arrange a time for you to talk with her. I know that you will be able to directly relate to some of the struggles that she has had and that is always such a help.

I'm glad you are continuing to take care of yourself.

Hugs,

Hi Annie,

I'll check to see if I can get Lisa to come out with me. She is much like the Annie I first met and is uncomfortable in any 'public' situation. That said, let me see what I can do. I'll be in touch.

I miss you too.

I'll be in touch!

BTW I am getting a new set of dentures in about a month.
The ones I have had from UNC were horrible.
Dental Works has our insurance I am so happy to get a new set because I am proud of me and love to smile and interact with people.
