Paxil (or any other maitenance med) and RNYGB

Scheduled for RNYGB on 02/21/11 and have questions about the medication I take for anxiety and depression.
I have taken Paxil for years and am concerned about the options I have for continuing this after surgery as I have been told I will need to find an alternative to the pill form immediately following surgery due to the liquid-only diet.
I am scheduled to see my primary care provider before surgery and will discuss this with them, but I would like to know as much as possible before hand so I can be more prepared.

Please do consult with your bariatric and psych physicians, but i wanted to let you know that i take cymbalta and continued taking it post op without incident. the issue you may have will more likely be absorption, absorption may or may not be an issue. generally, dosages are managed on a fairly tight trail and error basis to see if you need any adjustments, but i never had any issue with being able to ingest them.

 

 You can take during liquid diet, and after surgery as well.
