Soreness
I am happy to report that I am two weeks post opt from having lap RNY. I have been improving and feeling better each day until this passed Sunday. I was out at a craft show for a while with a friend and was on my feet for a good portion of the time. I did sit some but maybe not enough. When I got home and for the last day or two, I have been extremely sore around my upper stomache, possibly where some of the incisions are.
Additionally, I'm typically a stomache sleeper and have been doing my best to sleep on my bac****asionally I have tried moving to my side or on my stomache during the night, but wind up moving back to sleeping on my back when it becomes uncomfortable. I wasn't sure if this also contributed to my soreness.
I am curious if anyone else has experienced this, and/or if anyone had a recommendation on how to relieve the soreness. I've taken Tylenol and put a heating pad on my stomache. I also tryr to walk each day, however the soreness doesn't seem to go away.
Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
This is really common. The good news is that the discomfort should start to wane soon. You probably did over do it a bit while you were out. Remember that while you have tiny incisions and are generally feeling well, that you have had major abdominal surgery and it takes a while to recover. Also know that as time moves forward you will feel better and better. Of course, if you have any concerns at all call the advice nurse at Duke so that the can make an assessment and give you medical advice.
I hope that you are safe and warm and look forward to meeting you soon at an upcoming support group meeting.
Hang in there and know that this discomfort will soon fade and become a distant memory.
All the best,
Barbara
