 Good Morning Everyone!

How was your day yesterday?  What are your plans for today?  Come on in and share.

I have cabin fever.  While I was ready to walk out the door to go to work yesterday, I received phone calls stating that the roads were too dangerous for me to travel.  The snow was pretty and kept coming down until late afternoon.  Fayetteville got anywhere from 4-6 inches of the white stuff and then came the ice.  So right now it looks like I will be housebound again today for at least part of the day if not all day.

I used the down time yesterday to get caught up in some of my reading.  Now I have magazines to contribute to others or recycle.  I started a new book and caught up on my personal emails.

It looks like I will get time for more catch up again today.

Have a WONDERFUL Tuesday!

The situation is pretty much the same here for me. School has been canceled and again i am disappointed that I have to wait at least another day. SO today I will enjoy several cups of hot tea and cuddle up under my blanket and read. I have already done the reading assignments provided in the syllabuses so I will read for fun today. I will take the chihuahuas out to run in the snow several times. My daughters bigger dogs are in and out the doggie flap all the time as they think the snow is the greatest thing since the summer kiddie pool we put out there for them at that time of the year. My daughter is on duty today and when the weather is like this she mostly just has to hunker down and wait for calls. Crime is lower in this weather because its just to cold and treacherous even for the crooks LOL! Most of her duties include writing accident reports. But people are staying off the roads so fewer of those thankfully.

As you may recall, I broke my right wrist last week. Yesterday I had a followup appt w/my pcp. I gave him the information about the ASMBS ER poster. I also told him that I appreciated the switch from the RX for Hydrocodone 5/500 to Oxycontin 20 because it provided more relief. I also told him that I have found that whatever pain meds I get seem to only work for about half the Rx time; for me, that means that a dose of medication that should provide 6 hrs of relief only provides about 3 hrs of relief and that I'm in pain for the next few hrs until it's time for the next dose. I also told him that I had done a little research on the subject and while there seem to be a few studies that look at supplements, but not much that looks at the impact of a malabsorbtive procedure on pain and other meds. I guess we aren't a big enough part of the buying public for them to consider the dosing requirements for us. The good news is that while I am very concervative with pain meds, my dr alsotold me to let him know if I need more.

One of the negative side effects of most of the pain meds are constipation issues and to be honest this has been a problem for me. It causes problems in multiple ways for me because I tend to not not eat as often if I'm experiencing these kind of issues.  Unfortunately, that means my weight is dropping again and I'm sure that my diet isn't as nutritionally balanced as it should be. I'm working on that and trying to find some things to level it out.

We got the ice from this latest winter storm, not much in terms of snow. That means it's just an incredibly cold, nasty mess. Ben says I'm not allowed outside where I might slip and fall.

I'm hoping to work on some projects around the house today. I may see about getting Ben or Sarah to help me with making something warm and satisfying for dinner. If I direct and they execute, we might end up w/something good.

I hope everyone has a safe and cozy day.

Hello everyone.

I must admit that I have been MIA here for quite a while.  I am very happy with the weight loss that I have maintained, but I have not lost a pound in 8 months.  Something tells me that if I stay close to my OH friends I can get my weight loss started again.

I began at 345 and now I am 253 lbs.  I wore size 26 and 28 and now I am in 18s, though my tops sometimes have to go back to 20s.  I am going to see my surgeon in two weeks and I am so ashamed that I have not lost anymore weight since the last time I saw him in May.  For some reason my blood sugar went back up and I had to start insulin again.  I have a hard time losing weight with insulin.  Also, my blood pressure is sky high and I am taking so many pills.  I do exercise 5 to 6 days a week.  I know I need to get better with my eating.

I am an old-head retiree (56 years old) who has returned to college to complete my education.  Guilford College is closed today due to the bad weather.  I am a little disappointed because I was really lookig forward to my class tonight, Intro to Jazz.  I am grateful though that Guilford does not make us risk our lives on the ice the way some schools do.

I am eating well today and doing a little housework.

Hi Linda!
I have the same surgeon as you. And I am going to school at GTCC full time working on a degree in Psychology/Sociology. I go to the local support meetings each month and to the Raleigh support meeting third Saturdays. If you would like to ride along with me this Saturday let me know. PM me and I will contact you. BTW you are doing well but I can understand how frustrating it is not to be where you may have expected to be. I am sorry that you have to deal with insulin again. I had Type II and still have some elevated sugars occasionally and it is hard. My A1c was measured at 6.2 which is supposed to be good but I was hoping to make it below 5.5. I will keep trying as you will too. Anyway I can support you through this I would be happy to do. Just let me know and know that you are not alone here in Greensboro.

Hi Ann,

How nice to meet you.  What a small world that we both go to Dr. Newman.  I just love him.  He is so cute and reminds me somewhat of Dr. Oz.

I sure would love to go to some support meetings.  Unfortunately, my mother has alzhimers and we the children have to take turns staying with her because she needs 24/7 care and we don't have the money for that.  It just so happens that I stay with Mama on the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month.  So I know I can't go this Saturday, but if you go next month, maybe I can ask my sister to stay with Mama for a few hours while I go with you.

When is the meeting in Greensboro?  I went the first time after I had my surgery and really enjoyed it.  I think support does give you that extra boost..

I am very happy to make a friend with someone who has so mu*****ommon with me.  Are you a senior at GTCC?  My sister works at daycares for students who are finishing their certification.  She is paid thru GTCC.  My nephew also attends.  I think he wants to be a chef.  Boy can he cook.

I probably wil be leaning on you some for advice.  You have done an incredible job and look fantastic.
