By no means do I want to bring a damper on anyone's holiday spirit but I was told a story by a close friend of her mother in law's smo suffering a suffering I choose not to forget because I experinced it myself.
My friend and I had lunch today and I knew that her mother in law is 500 pls a number I can relate to from my past.
Actually my highest was 680lbs
I asked how she was doing.
The mother in law has uterine cancer will no longer shops forfood but goes to Drive In's to buy food and eat.
A flood of memories came back as she was telling me this.
I do recall many years ago that my mother would give me hell about my weight and after such conversations I had the overwhelming urge to go to Wend"ys drive through and buy triple burgers and Frost'ys.At this time I was in nursing school and remember how hard it was to walk the hallways or get from my car to the ward.
So also today I met with a friend who has had wls by the same surgeon and was lucky enough to have plastics done.
Only to be offered Christmas cookies from her when I was in her office and offered pretzels both items I declined and was offered diet Dr. Pepper OMG I have not had carbonation in over 3 years I have tried a sip or two but it feaking hurts.
Dont get me wrong I love both my friends I spent time with today.
When I chose wls I chose to do this and do it all the way.
I never want to go back to eating triple burgers again.

Drive thru eating was a daily occurrence for me for many years especially when I was working odd hours. Now I only eat out at restaurants where I am seated and order at the table and even then rarely because I can't finish anything and its hard to get something that fits with my healthy eating. I do have a soda occasionally but it is a treat not a regular source of hydration. Amazing how a few sips will make me quit wanting it again. I meet people everyday at school who are still young and I tell my story all the time since I know it can be a cautionary tale for them and possibly a glimmer of hope for others. I can't change what others do, I can only change what I do. I just hope that my changes may show one or two others what can work. You have done the work and you share it to anyone you can. This is your way of helping others and since it helped me and I know many others it works. Keep being Annie because you help by being you and telling your story. You can only do that. Not everyone will 'drink the koolaid' but many do and get better because of it.

 My Dear Friend Ann,
You as always are so insightful I love and admire your wisdom

I must share a happy thing I just found out OMG dancing a jig here LOL
My cousin is sending me two cookbooks that were my father's that my Aunt had.
The one I am so thrilled to get is the cookbook from Julia Childs copy write 1960
My cousin and I both have memories of my dad trying recipes from that book.
What a wonderful gift to go with my new range but will have to make a few changes to some of the recipes.
