I am wanting to know which is the best artificial sweetner to use...I have been using splenda and someone told me that eventually ur body starts to thinking it is sugar and will start storing it as sugar?? Also, does anyone use the sugar free kool-aid in their water? Does it have any effect on u not being able to loose weight??

Thanks!

Hi, Well when I first started using a artificial sweetner I did use splenda but for some reason after a while, it started having a bitter taste to it. So I started using Equal. I also use the generic walmart kind as well and I like it. As for sugar free kool aid, I use it in my water and it didnt stop me from being able to loose weight but not everyone's system is the same way. I will tell u what a very close friend said to me, Its all trial and error. U have to see how your body reacts to it.
I hope I helped u out some. Have a great day :)

I like sweet and low (store brand) I can't do splenda in any form. The surgery REALLY does change things. That said, try stevia (or Truvia) it comes from a plant it been used in Japan for decades and is much better for you. It's 30x sweeter than sugar. I'm trying to make the change myself.

I use Stevia based sweeteners and have become quite accustomed to it. I prefer to sweeten things myself as presweetened things are way too sweet even when sugar free. The brand I have used most recently is Purvia because i can by it in bulk at Costco now. I get a box of 400 packets. Previously I had to buy it at Walmart in boxes of 40 or 80 packets and of course had to shop for it more frequently. The same amounts can be purchased  for Truvia and I find no difference in Truvia over Purvia.

I have heard that splenda and sweet n low, while sugar free, still are high on the GI scale. Stevia/ Truvia/ Purvia is a 0 on the GI scale. For that reason, I plan to use it. I'm not far along to need it just yet though, because I'm not eating much!
