Do unto yourself as you would do to others...

I, like many of us, tend to be very harsh with myself about how I look or how I'm 'doing.' I was leading a support group meeting this weekend and told them that I wish that we could be as compassionate and supportive of ourselves as we are with others. This afternoon as I was walking down my hallway, I saw the Norman Rockwell 'Do Unto Others as you would have them do  unto you.' While I hold steadfast that notion, I also think that we can and should turn it around, so that we are as kind, gentle, and supportive to ourselves as we are to our friends, families, neighbors, and even strangers. I think that as we are aware of the tasks at hand necessary to support our goals for good health, quality of life and appearance, we also need to be compassionate with ourselves, and give credit where credit is due.

So, come on, go ahead, be kind to yourself and give yourself credit for what you have done!

I absolutely agree with you on that one Barbara. I have always treated my family and friends better then I have ever treated myself. To this day, I still put everyone else above myself. So I will start here and start giving mydelf credit for things I have done. I am extremely proud of myself for how far I have come since having my surgery. I did a awesome job and I really do need to do some more things for myself. I did get that hair cut I wanted to that was a little treat. I give myself credit for keeping up on taking my vitamins. I am a very forgetful person so I am doing great at that too. I give myself credit for being a giving and loving mother. I love my kids unconditionally and yea I can be overprotective at times but there is nothing I wouldn't do for my 3 boys.
Um, thats all I can think of right now but maybe thats cause its almost 2:30 in the morning and my mind is kind of blank lol. So, like barbara said, give urself credit where credit is due!!
