Did anyone have a late surgery

My surgery is scheduled for 3:30 tomorrow which seems kind of late for me. Was wondering if anyone else had a late surgery? I was thinking by the time I get back in my room it will be late. Do they have you up walking the halls that late? Another concern of mine is, I have been on clear liquids all day today and told not to drink after mid-night. How can I not drink anything up to 1:30 when I arrive at the hospital? Just curious.

Even though I had my surgery first thing in the morning, I can answer your question about walking the halls that late.    The first time I tried to get up (late afternoon), I had some problems with dizziness.  So, they wanted to wait a few more hours before we tried again.    The first time I successfully walked around the halls of the hospital was around midnight.

Dr. Pryor was my surgeon as well.   She does great work and the folks at Durham Regional are top notch.   They'll take good care of you.

Good luck.

Thanks Sgar,

I"m glad that you responded. I guess I won't be the only one out there walking the floors in the wee hours then. And I guess the hospital is like Vegas, it never shuts down.

I have been a day surgery nurse for over 15 years and I can tell you the nothing to eat or drink after midnight is just the easiest thing to tell everyone. Technically you can have some clear liquids up till 8 hours before surgery. You would be safe if you woke up befiore 5 am and had a drink of water at least.
