3 Yr Surgiversary... I am so grateful!

This Saturday marked 3 years since I had my weight loss surgery. So many things in my life have changed in ways that I could not have even imagined. I have lost about 125 lbs and weigh 136 to 138. While my weight has fluctuated a bit since my initial weight loss, I have learned to leverage my tool to sustain my weight loss and all of the benefits that have come with it.

I am grateful for the myriad of health benefits I enjoy now that I no longer carry an extra person around with me all the time.

I am grateful for the marked improvements in my quality of life; from the little, mundane things like tying my shoes and breathing at the same time,  the ability to 'fit' anywhere, being able to be so much more active than I ever was before, being able to wear beautiful clothes, feeling 'normal' for the first time in my life, there really are just too many quality of life improvements to list.

I am grateful that my mother was able to live long enough to see and appreciate my metamorphosis.

I am grateful that my tool not only helped me to get the excess weight off, but is a real key to my being able to maintain and manage my weight without feeling deprived or like I have 'work at it' all of the time.

I am grateful that I had a little bump up in my weight about a year or so ago and learned how to leverage my tools to get the excess weight off and manage my weight. I know that may seem silly, but it's good to know that even if I do fall off the horse, I can and will regain control. That is more powerful than I can articulate. I have always regained after losing and never been able to regain control. This time when I gained a few pounds, I was able to identify what was happening and regain control. This doesn't mean that I live my life counting every morsel I put in my mouth, but it does mean that I have realized that awareness and accountability go a long way towards helping me maintain all of the benefits my weight loss has brought to bear.

I am grateful to have the incredible extended support that I have found through OH and my support groups. I really believe that this support is helping me to stay focused and remember where I've come from and where I'm going.

Happy Surgiversary!!!! Reading your post of things you're grateful for is heart warming first thing this morning. The sincereity is so obvious. I just want to add that you have given to the WLS community so much more than you'll ever know. (((HUGS)))

Iris,

Thank you, but I want you to know that I get as much, if not more than I give. I truly appreciate the support and friendship that I find here.

Warmly,
