I had my first Drs appointment last Tuesday, and now I'm waiting to hear when my next test will be. When can I expect the calls to set up the appointments? My surgery will be in Greenville  at Pitt, with Dr. Chapman... Any advice is welcome :-)  Sherrie

Hi Sherrie,

We have several members that have used Dr. Chapman and have been very happy with the support that they have gotten and the results that they have had. My biggest suggestion is to follow your Dr's protocol. Next, and this is easier said than done, you need to realize that this really is a 'tool' that will significantly help you as you work to strip off the extra pounds and provide you with a way to keep it off, but as so many have said before me, it is not a 'magic bullet'. It can almost seem like it is early on. That isn't to say that there isn't hard work in the beginning, but it is different than when you get farther out. I think you basically have different parts to this journey. The part you are in now is the first part as you decide to follow this path and work to make it happen, the next part is the period following surgery when you are losing weight, the third part is when you really realize that you will have to leverage your tool and make lifestyle changes to make the weight loss and improvements in your life stick, finally you will get the place where you are integrating those changes into your life and living life as a normal sized person. It's an incredible, life-changing journey.

There are some tools that I think may help and I'll be glad to share them with you.

Wishing you all the best,

Barbara

Hi Sherrie,
I'm one of Dr. Chapman's patients and am living proof of what a miracle this surgery can be.  My surgery was in Oct. 2007 and I have lost about 125 pounds and maintaining it without too much trouble.  You will love Dr. C and his staff.

We have a support group meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6:00.  If you can come, you will meet some great folks who have or are traveling the same path that you are.  Tomorrow's meeting will be fantastic because Dr. Walter Pories, who actually perfected the RNY surgery that is the gold standard today, will be speaking to the group.  If you can come, meet at the Brody outpatient office,a few minutes before 6:00.  This is where you check in when you come to see Dr. Chapman.

Hope to see you there!

I can't tell you about Dr. Chapman but I can tell you that everyone at the Pitt Palace was wonderful while I was there for my surgery. Keep us posted on your progress - It is an amazing journey that continues getting better.

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.
