2 Weeks out with NO weight loss

OK so I came home with the expected 10 pound gain from the hospital and I was fine with that.
I came home, within 3 days I had lost that and then starting losing more weight. I lost 4 pounds within that first week and then NOTHING, NADA, NOT a pound since then. I am 2 weeks 1 day out from surgery and it has flat out stopped. Both dietician and PA said not to count it as a stall till 3 weeks but really????? Not a single pound in a week. I really regretting my decision right now and feel so discouraged.
Please tell me someone else has had this issue and has a trick up their sleeve?? It has been brought to my attention I may not be eating enough but I am eating through out the day but  I have no idea and I just want something positive to come out of this surgery.
Please help if you can.

Wow I know it must be frustrating. I was not allowed to eat until three weeks out, so I did not have the same issue. But know, I have had other issues and even though I have lost very fast there has been many trips to the hospital and days of not eating. The weight WILL come off, everyones body reacts differently. Be patient and stop getting on the scale. One day at a time, even one meal at a time some days.
I am 3 months out and still not yelling from the roof top how happy I am about this decision. Be proud of yourself every day this is a long journey and you are beautiful!!!!

Good luck and smile it will make the day look better lol

Hi Danielle,
First congratulations on having wls.
I know you are ready to scream.
I am almost three years out and still am not in onderland very upseting but I have to look at where my weight los journey began my hw was 680 I did lots of damage to my body at that weight so I am swimming in skin.
Besides the skin issues I cant describe just how wonderful I feel.
I want you to know your boby has been through a major surgery and it may take time for your body to recover from the total shock of the surgery.
Are you recording what you are eating?
I use www.sparkpeople.com I record my fitness and food intake everyday.
It helps me see what I am doing what I need to do different like cut back on carbs and increase the protien.
When I left the hospital I was on full liquids like sf pudding with protein powder mixed in,cream soups, peanut butter, refried beans for about two weeks then I moved on too the soft food stage.
Make sure you are getting your fluid in.
The magic number or higher I shoot for each day is 64 ounces.
At first that was hard to do now I have no trouble and I use crystal light in my water or the sf flavors Walmart has.
Keep posting you are among friends here.

(((((Dani))))),

Go read my blog. It will make you feel soooo much better. While I didn't have the initial 10 pound gain after surgery like you did, I had an initial loss and then NOTHING for a couple of weeks.  I was sure that I had messed this up. I hadn't and neither have you. It is how our bodies are trying to protect ourselves. Our bodies are trying desperately to hold on to those precious fat reserves that we are working so hard to get rid of, but as long as you stay with your surgeon's program it will come off.

I found that logging my intake was a real key to my success in my weight loss. I tried a couple of online programs to do this and like www.mydailyplate.com the best, but it doesn't really matter which one you use. Using a logging system will help you develop an awareness of what you are consuming and the 'value' of it. It also helps from an accountability perspective because you will make sure that you are getting in enough, but not too much. I have to say that I don't use it all the time anymore, but I absolutely do use it if my weight is fluxuating and it really helps to keep it under control.

Know that this is normal and you will lose the excess weight.

Take care,

Barbara

Dani, correct me if I am wrong but you probably had a long hospital stay...that is where the 10 lb gain came from?

No actually I was only in the hospital for 48 hrs. I hit the 3 1/2 weeks mark and stalled and in fact gained 2 pounds. Why oh why does this keep happening?? Doesn't my body understand I am not a patient person!!
