Looking for Doctor Info

Hello everyone.  My wife and I are gastric bypass patients in Massachusetts and we are looking at the possibility of moving to the Charlotte, NC area.  If this is something that we do, we will both need to find a new surgeon to follow our progress.  I am trying to gather some info now so that if we do make this move, I have my ducks in a row.  So my questions would be these:

Who would you recommend and why?

Where are they located?  (it doesnt need to be in Charlotte, just withing 30-40 miles)

Are there any support group meeting in the Charlotte area? 

Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you all in advance

Just to the north of Charlotte is Concord NC. Dr. Roc Bauman. Great surgeon. Doesn't candy coat things he is straight forward . http://carolinaweightlosssurgery.com/default

I haven't had surgery yet (hope to by mid summer) but I go to Jon Pirrello in Matthews and at my consultation, I thought he was great.  Like Dr Bauman, he doesn't sugar coat things and I know they have support meetings monthly.

Definitely Dr. Bauman -- he's my surgeon (RNY), and I've worked with him as well taking care of his patients as a nurse.  I highly recommend him, on both accounts.

He is in Concord, NC.  Phone # is 704-786-5700.  He welcomes patients from other surgeons.  He doesn't sugar-coat things, as others have mentioned.

Dr. Pirello is also very good -- I worked with him, as well, as he was Dr. Bauman's partner until going on his own a little over a year ago.  He is in Matthews now.  He did my sister's Realize band and she is thrilled with her results.

My support group meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at CMC-Northeast from 6-7 pm, led by Diane Stout, nutritionist through Dr. Bauman's office.  Anyone is welcome -- preop, postop, family, etc.
