Hi Angie and welcome! You are at the right place. I was not real good with my pre-op diet and did not "shrink my liver" as it is suppose to do. This seemed to have caused the surgeon to work double hard at working around it and caused me more soreness afterward. I suggest you be a good girl and adhere to the diet. I am happy for you and I know it sounds cliche' but you truly are in for the ride of your life. I am healthier than I have been for years and looking good is just the cherry on top!

Welcome Angie.
I have found the people on this site to be very warm and supportive.   Please join us each morning on our  "Check-in" thread.  I find it helps a great deal to type out my concerns (rambles) each morning.  Most days I will receive some helpful advise from others.
It is perfectly normal to have a range of emotions at this time in your "journey".
Best wishes..............Carrie

Hi I am Audra, and I had a RNY on 12/14/09. I am happy to hear you are excited. I did very well with the pre-op diet, because I hired a personal trainer. I am not sure how much it helped yet. I did loose 16 pounds so my surgeon was happy. I am 5'10 and weighed 284 but was still shocked to see how unhealthy I really was. I have no pre-op diagnosis but after surgery found out I had 66% fatty liver.
So, I think you are making a wise choice for the rest of your life. I say that now even though i have had a minor complication.

I also wanted you to know the truth about your post op. Things will not always be great and sunny. You will have good days and emotional day. Be patient with yourself and your body, it takes months to catch up with your loss of weight. I found I was overwhelmed at times, but I had it at the holidays so I put alot of extra stress on myself.

The great news is I am down 73 pounds in three months which is amayzing, so the good does shine through.

Good luck,
Audra

Hey Angie,

I am a patient at Hickory Surgical. I love Becky and Jock at Frye and the doctors are very supportive. i had my last lap band fill with Dr. Hata. He is very informative and he is a great doctor. My friend and her husband both had RNY with Dr. Hata. They both have had a really good experience.
