Long time no see...getting a revision

Hi all.  It's been quite a while since I last posted.  Lap band did not work for me at all, so I'm now planning on revising to the sleeve.  I see Dr. Portenier tomorrow.  I'm excited and nervous all at the same time, just hoping that this one will be a success for me.

I really, really like Dr. Portenier.  He's excited about the surgery too because I'm the first patient that is going for a sleeve from United Health Care, which now approves it. 

Just wanted to say hi again.  :)

Did Dr Torquati do your original surgery? I live in Raleigh and had a RNY by him. I am not impressed with there post op care. I hope this new procedure works for you I have heard good things about Porteniers surgical techniques. I have two friends that had the RNY by him in the last year.

Yes Torquati did my original surgery.  It went fine, but the band is just not comfortable for me.  Thanks for the info on Dr. Portenier.  That's reassuring.  I'm not impressed with the post op care either.  That's why I was so active on this board for a long while.  I got lots of help and advise here. 

Do you go to the once a month groups that meet at restaurants here? 

I do not know about the groups that meet in the area. I do know about the one at Durham Regional but have only gone to one. I have enjoyed the site, but have not got much help with my complication.
I have had a stricture at the new gastric opening and have had four dilitations so far, I would love to find someone local that has been through the same thing and maybe get some good news about coming out on the other side.

Barbara heads up a group that meets once a month in Raleigh.  I know she is out of town right now due to a death in the family, but I'm sure someone else on here can tell us when the next meeting is. 

I'm sorry your having problems with a stricture.  I'm sure that's no fun.  Have you hit the rny forum?  I know I've heard of others having problems like this.

How long ago was your surgery?

I have tried all the forums on this site. I had myRNY 12/14/2009 and the good news is I am down 66 pounds , feel great just wish I could eat for more than 6-7 days before things go bad again. I was so sick of the post op care I have my own specialist working on the problem here in Raleigh. The surgeons office is much to busy to really care about you after the procedure.

I'm a little bit of a guinea pig, I think.  :)  They haven't done many.
