Saturday Check-in
How was your week? What are you plans for the weekend? Come on in and share with us. Feel free to ramble away.
My work week is over and today is Saturday! Enough said.
Today is the chili cookoff. We report with our entry at 10 this morning. From what I understand there were to be 26 pre-registered with 21 of these willing to reschedule from last weekend. All of this for charity. I think that is FANTASTIC! My chili will have simmered slowly for 5 hours by the time we leave. I bet if you try real hard you can guess what is on my menu for lunch!
After the cookoff we will run to Sam's and Walmart for our weekly groceries then home to get some laundry done. I am planning on a little R & R for tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day!
A friend of the family passed away the funeral is today but it is held at the graveside.
I went to mother's yesterday to explain to her that it would be impossible to drive her van into the cemetary the roads are very small and to get to the grave site mother in her wheelchair would have to go over soft ground and roots.
So plan B is have her nurse drive us up to the cemetary get mother out of van stay by the van and as people leave mother can talk to them.
Well, the sun is shining again today!!!!
I have been lazy today, I have had a shower and a small sup of coffee. This was the first time I have had coffee since surgery. Couldn't drink much but it was nice to have something I normally would have.
My plans for today is to get out and walk. I have got to build my energy up before next week. I plan to go back to work on Monday and we have an auditor coming on Tuesday. Pray I will make it all week!
Hope everyone has a good day!

Carrie,
That sounds like so much fun!! Maybe next year we can make it down for a meetup event to test the various chili entries. Let us know how it all goes.
I have been struggling to keep my weight up. It's down to about 141 now. I made scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes for breakfast. I had a strawberry crepe for 'lunch'... I need to have something substantial for dinner. My future DIL is making Flautas for dinner .... mmmmm.
The family as a whole is working to deal with the loss of my dear FIL and some would prefer to do nothing while others would prefer to rework all the kitchen cabinets... There's also family tension about how to handle care for my MIL. We'll see how it all unfolds. Right now we are all doing the best we can as we put one foot in front of the other.
My mother is failing and it's difficult because the woman that she lives with and my sister have imposed strict visiting hour restrictions so even though I am within 30 minutes, I have only seen her twice. I hope to be able to see her again before I head home.
My DILs other grandfather is seriously ill and seems to be failing as well, so she is enduring the loss of Dale and looking at the imminent loss of her grandfather as well as the loss of my mother. Poor baby!
