3 weeks to go

Well today started my presurgery diet and the count down to 3 weeks from today for surgery.
I ate my weight control oatmeal which I am sorry to say what horrible but I choked it back with some sunrise crystal light. I have raw veggies ready for later today. I wanted to make the pudding last night and have it ready witht he protein in it but that didn't happen. I am trying not to get overwhelmed.
This is very hard with kids in the house and all the snacks they have but I know I only have to count down 21 days till the end of my diet.

I am very anxious about the surgery these days and I am not sure why. My mom coming in town can be adding to stress but we really don't have a choice with the kids. If it  was just during the day I could find friends to watch them but overnight while in hospital I really want my husband with me.
Anyways keep me in your positive thought to make it through the presurgery diet and then on to surgery!!
Thanks

The diet will be over before you know it!!! My Dr. requires a different diet for 1 week but I have done fairly well with it. Like you I have a child in the house that wants to eat everything.  I am thankful I was given the opportunity to adjust to the food issues prior to surgery.  I have had to reassure my husband and son that it is OK to eat infront of me.  I have tried not to watch the chanels that have lots of food commercials because they cause head hunger and cravings.  Drink LOTS of water!

Don't get discouraged!!!!!
You can DO IT!!!!

Dani,

You can do this. Stay focused on the prize and remember that the presurgery diet you are on is to help shrink your liver to make your surgery safer, so when you are tempted by something remember it's not worth having your surgeon switching to an open procedure because your liver was too large. This diet will shrink the liver and make it easier for your surgeon and ultimately easier on you.

Hang in there! You can do it.

It's normal to be anxious about the surgery. You are getting ready to change your life and even good change can be nerve wracking.

Take care,

Barbara

Ok thank you all, it is only Noon and I know I am truly probably not hungry but to me I am starving!!
I went to the grocery store after an errand and bought some light yogurt like that is on my diet plan, and also some fruit. I already have the protein shakes. The oatmeal this morning was horrible.
I am frustrated at myself and worried I can't do this! Then beating myself up about it.
Why is this so hard it is just food!! I am trying to stay busy and I am trying to work but I can't stop thinkin about how hungry I am

It's tough but it goes by fast!  I actually enjoyed my time alone in the hospital =)  Quiet.  Your surgery date will be here before you know it.

Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a good 12 step program you might want to look at. I attend 1 face to face meeting a week, and they have online and telephone meetings many times a day that I often attend. I am over 1 year from surgery and have a good therapist I see at least every other week. Like Rena says, you are having stomach surgery, not head surgery.  Prayers for strength and courage for you, Deb
