OT... Please pray
As many of you know my dear Father-in-law has been seriously ill and we have been taking him for a series of tests. This morning when my son went in to give him his morning meds, we found that he had been coughing up blood and coughed up a HUGE blood clot or piece of lung. I drove over to his Dr's office and showed it to his Dr and got copies of all of his medical records to take to the ER. We took him to the ER and were there all day. We had already found out that he had metastatic liver cancer and today found that he also has a very large tumor that is strangling the pulmonary artery.
It doesn't look good and it's likely that he won't live very long. If he stabilizes they may do a liver biopsy to see if they can determine the primary source of the cancer to see if they can manage it for a while to help him extend the amount of time he has without trashing the quality of life he has left. He may have a few weeks to a few months.
Dad has been my MIL's primary caregiver since her strokes in 1987. Now, I'm fulfilling that role for her and for him when he is home.
This is tragic for everyone, but as you can imagine, it is absolutely devastating for my MIL.
I forgot to pack my supplements, so I bought some out here. I'm trying to take care of myself, but I've dropped about 3 lbs in less than a week. I have to find some better ways to manage this stuff.
If you believe in prayer, please pray for my family as we travel this difficult road ahead.

I truly wish there was more that I could do for you and your family.
Your mother and father-in-law are very fortunate to have a daughter like you to care for them. I know where your son got all his nurturing instincts.
I know you have never been a protein shake person, but in this case, you may find that supplementing with RTD protein drinks will help keep you "healthier" . Just a thought.
Take care of yourself, my sweet friend..................................Carrie
Hi Carrie,
Thanks for the support and suggestion. I have never liked any of the protein bars or shakes, but may see about getting a few so that I try your suggestion.
HAve a good day my friend and thanks again.

If you haven't, I'll throw 1 of each flavor I have (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream) into a box and ship to you to try. These I adore.
I've also just ordered some Isopure Smoothie RTD's that Beth says are to die for. I can ship you one of them as well if you'd like.
Just lemme know. You need to take care of yourself.
Hi Andrea,
I haven't tried 'em, but it might be worth it. I got on the scale today and I'm down about 4 lbs from my arrival on Tuesday. This is not a good trend. I'm only sleeping about 4 to 6 hours a night, running closer to 4 or 5. I know that, coupled with not eating enough, is a recipe for disaster.
