I have been coming apart at the seams. This is impacting my depression significantly and that is impacting my ability to take care of myself. The stresses that have been effecting me are probably going to increase, instead of decrease. I ate terribly yesterday. I'm not gaining any weight, but I'm not eating well either.

Today is a new day... same problems and to be honest, more on the horizon, but it is a new day, so today, I will try to take better care of myself, have protein and complex carb laden meals, take all of my supplements and be sure to get in a minimum of 64 ounces of water.

I hope that we all have a 'good day' today.

Please share how you are doing and what you have planned for the day.

Good  Morning!

Hope everyone has had a good week.  Mine has been OK. Very busy at work and at home!  I went to the Diet/Nut appointment yesterday and learned quite a bit.  I was excited to know I will be able to eat "normal foods" around 6 weeks.  I have really like most of the protein choices that are best but I doubt I will be eating much fish  never did really like the "fishy" taste.  I have my last appointment before surgery on Monday Feb 1st.  I am so excited to be so close!  I have been trying to prepare at work for my time out and I have been busy so I hope it will make time fly by.

Barb....sorry things are looking kind of dark for you. I was that way last year around this time.  I found a book that really helped me. It was by Chonda Pierce, "Laughing in the Dark".  she is a Christian comedian that experienced depression and has since written a book about it. I really brought a lot of things to light for me and after I read the book realized I could not fight the battle by myself and made an appointment with my doctor for a "mental health" visit.  He was able to put me on meds that really helped and got me out from under my rock. I still have bad days but everyday is not bad. I hope and pray things will get better for you and things will turn in your favor.  God knows what we are going through and he will take care of us if we just give it to him to handle!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Barb, sorry so much is on your plate.  (pun intended even though it was weak, lol)  Hope things improve drastically.
I was told to up my calorie intake last week by my Dr.  I have and it is causing me so much stress I cannot believe it.  So, to counter balance the stress, I have been working out harder.  It seems now when I get on the elliptical, I put in an extra 15 mins or what ever to add more calories used because I am scared of the extra calories consumed.  I am so worried about gaining weight that I am fixated on it.  Does this feeling lessen?  I don't want it to go away but I would like to be more comfortable with it.
All else is good.  Life is treating me nicely.  So, I sit here waiting for the shoe to drop.  It usually does just as I get comfortable with life running smoothly.   I sounds so pessimistic saying that.  Like I am a kook or something.  But, I know you know how it is.
Short day at work today.  I love Thursdays for that reason.  No real plans for the weekend.  I want to go to the winery but since they cut my hours at my part time job during the week, they extended them for the weekend.  Will I have time after work on Saturday?  Will the weather even be nice enough for it?  If not, a nice day at home will be enjoyed.  Shucks!  I just remembered a work dinner for Saturday night.  Then another on Monday.  Two nights out with out the DH.  I dont mind the one on Monday but I do like to spend time with him during the weekend.  Well, enough rambling for me.  Have a good day and stay on track!
My body does not define who I am but I am trying to define my body.  It  gets easier with every pound I drop.

Sandy,

It is normal to have to start cranking up the calories and it's normal to be a little uneasy about it. When we are losing we obviously are taking in much less than what we need to maintain, so it's normal to start adding calories back in to find that sweet spot where you will stabilize your weight. It's even normal to gain a few pounds (somewhere between 5 and 10 percent) more than that is cause for concern. I know from my own experience and that of others who have been where we have and you are that even putting a few pounds back on can be unnerving to say the least and terrifying is not an understatement. I think it is reasonable to be cautious and concerned. Everyone has to find a way to maintain that works for them. For me, getting on the scale daily is a must because I can gain 8 to 10 lbs before it shows in my clothes and that's just not acceptable for me. Others just weigh weekly. You'll have to find what works for you. At any rate, I guess I'm saying that as you add some calories, you may well add a few pounds, but that is not unusual or a cause for alarm. It does take a while to get your head around this because in all of our histories whenever we have started to gain, we haven't been able stop or control it.  I am here to tell you that I can and do stop and control my weight gain now and you will be able to do it too. Stay focused and accountable.

Hugs!

Just another day in paradise over here in Currituck.

I don't know about yall but I really think I've got a touch (or more like a whole smack upside the head) of SAD. There's just something about these long, dark, dreary days that really screw with my head. I know that when the sun does shine again that all the problems won't be gone but somehow they won't look so overwhelming. As much as I would love to have some snow this weekend - I'd give my left arm to have a whole weekend of sunny weather.

I know I need to stop at the grocery store on the way home tonight and stock up on some canned goods for my Aunt. Might as well add to the panic and mayhem and get bread and milk for our house as well. I love it when the weatherman mentions possible power outages - everything disappears from the shelves in the store - looks like a swarm of locusts have devoured the store.

I've gotten half of my vitamins in already. I look like I've got a "drinking problem" - there are empty cups all over my desk at work. One from Coffee (1/2 decaf), one from my Creamsicle shake, one from my tea (that I call my bourbon - cause I'm always hiccupping) and another from a glass of water - and it's not even lunch time yet - plus there are 2 bottles of water sitting off to the side. Shouldn't have a problem reaching 100 oz today at all.

Hope everyone has a god day. Keep your chins up - better days are coming.

The sun is shinning and it is going to get warmer today.
Lee and I plan on doing some yard work .
Our colds seem to be getting better but I cant remember ever having a cold like this one it was a bad one.
I was able to attend my Al-Anon group yesterday and it always seems to help me stay focases and take care of me.

Since Lee has been on sick leave we almost lost our health insurance.
Yesterday he got paid but only half because the other half of his check went towards the health insurance.
Still no short term disabilty check but some how we are getting by.
Times are tough but I am alive and have never felt so good before.
