Any luck with Revision?

Hey All,

I am looking into getting a revision.  My staple line is disrupted, I could live with it, but I need to lose more weight.  I have read several posts of weight loss after a revision and the average loss is around 30 lbs.  Has anyone lost more and is it worth having a revision?  My original surgery was in 2000.

Thanks!

Hi - I had revision surgery September, 2008, (about16 months ago) with Dr. Kenneth MacDonald and have lost over 150 pounds.  It was an open RNY and I had very few problems.  I thought he was great and am pleased with the results.  I am still losing but it has really slowed down, as expected.  My original surgery was in 1985.  Janice

Hey,

Have you talked to Dr. Cook to see if he will do surgery or are you going to go somewhere different??

Dr. Cook did the original surgery.  I have talked to him, but I feel he doesn't really want to do the revision.  He told me I was welcome to let another surgeon do it, but I wanted Dr. Cook to do the surgery.  So now it's all up in the air.  I have contacted Dr. Voellinger from Charlotte and may make an appointment with him.  Have you had a revision with Dr. Cook?
