I went to the dr's for my one yr out appt. on Tuesday.   I have lost a total of 176 lbs.  I have gone from wearing a size 26/28 to a 4.  If I get the tummy tuck, I may end up a 2????  That would be hard to wrap my head around.  The PA said I was a poster child.  He actually told me that I am to stop losing weight and start to maintain.  I am 40 lbs less than their initial goal for me.   My BMI is 23.6.  He said that I have muscle so I should realize that alters my BMI and weight.  He thinks I am actually 3 to 5 lbs underweight.  Can you believe that?  Underweight?  lol  It gives me a buffer I guess. I am actually scared to maintain.  Losing was one thing but to maintain is another.  Wish me luck.
My body does not define who I am but I am trying to define my body.  It  gets easier with every pound I drop.

Sandy,

Congratulations on your phenomenal success. You are indeed the embodiment of SUCCESS when it comes to weight loss. As you may recall, I also dropped down a little low and wore a size 4 for a while. Now I'm comfortably in a 6. You may stay where you are and you may experience a bit of bounce back, but you are likely to maintain your weight loss and all of the gains that surround it. The reason I say this is that you have made a number of lifestyle changes that are the foundation of long-term success. That said, you are right when you say that maintenance is a totally different game than weight loss and it I'm not sure why, but it seems like they are better at providing support and counseling to help us during the actual loss period than when we enter the maintenance phase. However, you ARE doing those things you need to do help yourself to continue to be successful on this journey...

Wishing you continued success,

Barbara

Congratulations!  How do you wrap your head around being "underweight?"  I'm still having a problem wrapping my head around going to the misses department to buy clothes.

Thank you everyone.  It has been an eventful yr to be sure.  I don't know that I would have thought all of this possible when I experienced my first stall.  I thought for sure that I was doing something wrong or that the surgery "didn't take".  lol  I just feel so blessed that I was able to have the surgery and to be able to have not 1 but 2 free gym memberships.  With all of that in my corner, all I needed to do was my part.   This next phase will be hard but with the support and knowledge I get from this site I am ready to give it my all.  Thank you once again.

Congratulations, Sandy!  I have my 1 yr appt in a week and a half and I want to be at my goal by that time.  I have about 1 lb to go.  These last few want to hang around.  I can imagie not being able to wrap you head around that size!  I wouldn't either...heck, I can't wrap mine around a 8/10!
