How was your day?

I had a pretty good day so far.

I started my day with the monthly General Support Group meeting in Raleigh. It was relatively small group, but it was kind of nice. We had about 20 or so that showed up and it was a bit more intimate than our normal meetings that have 40 or so. We shared our struggles and our successes and it was clear that we really need to learn to become aware of our eating triggers and learn to manage them, especially during trying, stressful time. Overall, we seem to be doing this pretty well.

Let's see... What did I get out of the meeting?

*  Accountability and awareness is still a major key to success for most of us.

*  Getting moving is another major key to success. Many of us have led sedentary lives prior to WLS and it is one of the most significant lifestyle changes many of us have to make. That said, it provides a wonderful way to release stress without adding pounds.

*  Support is a major factor in our individual journey's.

*  Once we have our tool, be it a pouch, sleeve, etc... We have it and can work it. When we see a minor regain, we can and will get on top of it quickly and move our weight back to a 'safe' place.

*  We all define success differently. What one person considers a successful weight loss can be and often is different the way someone else defines success. While we are walking similar paths, the 'vehicle' and road maps we use vary somewhat and that is okay.

I can't tell you how grateful I am for the support that I get from those who attend these meetings. It means more than I'll ever be able to say.

I had a great day!!!  I went to Barb's meeting.  Since it was so much smaller than usual, it was easier to get around and talk to most of the people there.  In fact, we enjoyed  speaking with everyone so much we stayed right through breakfast and into lunch!!!  Just chatting away with old and new friends!!!

I think the main thing i learn from these meetngs is that no matter how different we are.... younger or older; RNY, Lap or DS; no matter where we are in this journey, we are basically all the same... we have the same concerns, the same struggles, the same worries, and the same reasons to be thankful!!!  And because of this, i feel the connection, i don't feel alone in the journey.  I learn something from someone at each of the meetings, and i hope and pray that i maybe I say something along the way that will help someone else... that someone can learn from me and maybe connect with me.

I believe that is what the meetings are for.  And i'm very thankful to be a part of them.

Thank you Barb, for putting these meetings together... i know you have alot on your plate and i appreciate all you do for us!!!
