First meeting tomorrow!

Tomorrow at 4 pm I'm heading, husband in tow, to the informational meeting at Duke! I'm very nervous, but excited also.
Any major questions, besides the obvious, that I should ask during this time?

Congratulations on the first step!!! If their meeting was like the one I went to in Fayetteville they answered most of the questions I had thought of.  Make sure to take notes because it can be a lot of information at one time.  Remember: No question is "stupid" if you don't know the answer!!! Someone else might need to know and be afraid to ask.  Hope it goes well!!!

I had my surgery at Duke and my husband had his there. I'm sure that the informational meetings have evolved some since I went to mine, but generally, I found them to be very informative and complete. They basically go over the different types of surgeries that they cover, the risks and benefits. They had someone go over the psych and nutrition things you'll need to know as well. 

 

Do they schedule your first appointment there? What is the next step after the meeting?

If you haven't submitted your application yet, you do it then. There was a non-refundable copayment that we had to make with the application. If you go to my profile, I am pretty sure that I chronical what happened for me through the process. I hope it helps some. Of course, it's been a couple of years and they have grown some since then, so there may be some changes, but it should give you a general idea.
