I wish my scale worked...

I hopped on the scale this morning before my shower 3 times and there is definitely something wrong with it. It kept saying I weigh 138... NOT. I wish I did, but I know better. So I went to the hall bathroom and checked my weight there and got the real weight. I weighed in at 146. While it's not great, it's come down a few pounds since my weigh in when I saw the Dr after I hurt my hand it said I weighed 151.9, so the trend is moving in the right direction. I'll check the scale in my master bathroom again later to see if it's still giving a false low reading. If so, maybe checking the batteries is in order.

I'm trying to decide where I want my weight to be. I think I want to be in the mid 140's. I like the way I feel and my face looks there, but I like the way my body looks when I'm in the high 130's/low 140's... I guess just getting back to the mid 140's now allows me to take a deep breath and sigh of relief. I can't tell you how much the number 150 rattled me. I guess it's because I am more than 2 years out and I don't want to be one of the regain statistics and it can happen so easily.

The good news is that I was relatively easily able to get my weight back down to a place that feels 'safer.' I didn't have to starve or even diet. What I did do was become more aware of what I was doing and made myself accountable for it... I am hoping that I have found the key to my own long term success which for me is not just losing the weight, but keeping it off.

Nothing like having a scale that blatantly lies to you. Might feel good for a minute or two but I rather have the truth and deal with it. I have gotten back to where I was before Christmas set in with all the goodies and hope to get back to loosing a bit more before I am done. I don't know where 'done' is either but I think I will know when I get there.

Hmmm... I thought I'd know when I was done too, but I have to admit that now that I'm more than 2.5 years out, I don't. Part of me thinks that my 'sweet spot' is 142/145; I can sit for a reasonable period of time without having my tailbone hurt me and my face doesn't sag as much, but I have much more 'tummy roll' than I'd like to have. At 132/136, my tummy looks better, but my cheeks on my face and bum sag a bit. You just can't quite win for losing... forgive the pun ;-)

I was fuming last weekend when I moved the scales out of the master bedroom closet into the guest bedroom and suddenly got a 5 lb higher reading.  Whatever the reason I decided to go with that new heavier number and start my new year there since I'm not willing to move them again for fear of it being even higher. Guess what ???? I hopped on those suckers yesterday morning and I was down 3 lbs since last Friday's weigh in !!! YEAH!!!

Look out Onederland here I come......

Speaking of tailbones hurting....my PCP thinks mine may be dislocated. I went for Xrays yesterday afternoon so it'll probably be sometime next week before I know for certain.

I told the girls at work that I wish I had a really great story like maybe I was Mountain climbing and fell into a deep ravine and hurt my rump...sadly saying I lost weight and sit on my tail at work just doesn't have the same ....umphhhh to it....

Iris,

I wonder if you did do something to it without realizing it. Honestly, when I was about 15 lbs thinner, I did have trouble with mine, but when I put on a few lbs, it was fine. I'm not suggesting you put on few, but I was pretty thin when mine was bothering me and I'm wondering if yours is more related to an injury than weight loss... I don't think this is coming out the way I'm intending it to..., but I hope and think you will understand my intent.

Warmly,

I completely understand what you're saying. Honestly - I think it was the road trip over Christmas that was the final straw. Up until that point I could squirm around enough to get fairly comfortable but since then - NOPE.

No chance that I'm willing to add padding back . Ha ha. I just look at it now as a less than friendly way of my body telling me it needs to move. As long as I'm up and active - no pain. I can handle that but I really do want to know if there's something wrong or not.

Barb, AWESOME news on getting the weight monster in check.  As for the scale, it could be that the floor might not be perfectly level where the scale sits in the bathroom.  Try moving it around to see if you get a different reading (and if it goes any higher on the readings, take sledge hammer to it and flu**** down the sewer.

I know what ya'll mean about tail bones hurting.  Seems like once I hit 225 it starting hurting, now at 196 it seems to be less hurtful.  Either some weight has shifted or the loss of the addtional 29 lbs has produced less pressure on the tailbone.  Whatever the case, I hope the trend continues.  For a while there, I thought my life would be resigned to sitting in donut pillows.
