Shirataki Noodles???
Has anyone heard of them or used them?? They're no fat, no/very low carbs, no/very low calories, yet they fill the bill when you want to add some noodles to your soup/salad/dinner.
I haven't tried them yet, but am going to pick some up to try them today.... I would love toher your experience with them.

I have used them in the past. They were good but very very filling. I have used them in noodle dishes, soups, even an dessert or two.
You need to make sure you drain and dry very well. I would drain, soak in boiled water then drain again and stir-fry dry in a nonstick pan until they squeak (dry). If you don't dry well your sauces will not stick to them in your dishes. When you open the package they smell "fishy" to me.
I purchased mine at whole foods. I have just gotten away from them since they felt like they expanded in my pouch.
Enjoy!

Hey Judy,
You might ask Dalton about them. I know he's used them and really enjoyed them.
I hope you enjoy!

Love em, love em, love em. They make awesome stir fries. Carries right, they need to be washed really well then dried thoroughly. I like to boil them in water with a tablespoon of vinegar. Get the funky smell out. They I rinse them in clear water, pat them dry, then stir fry them in a pan until they squeak. The I add my veggies, sauce, or protein. Yumm. Think I will have them tomorrow. Check out this website.

They have an awesome selection of different types of noodles. You can also get the spaghetti variety locally at the asian grocers and Whole Foods. Some of the varieties add a little tofu to the noodles to give it a little more noodle like color (otherwise they look like asian glass noodles). The tofu adds a marginal number of calories and a little bump in protein. Good stuff. They tend to have no flavor and will take on the flavor of whatever you add to them. Heres my favorite recipe.
1/2 chopped onion
1/2 diced zucchini or yellow squash
3-4 diced baby carrots
1 tsp canola oil
8 oz shrimp
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
1 wedge of lime
1 tsp rice wine vinegar
1/2 tsp peanut butter
white pepper to taste
2 packets splenda
Chopped peanuts
Bean sprouts
Prepare noodles as directed above. Stir fry veggies in oil until tender. Add shrimp. When shrimp are cooked, add noodles. Combine oyster, soy, lime, vinegar, peanut butter, splenda, and white pepper. You may need a splash of water. Sauce should be the consistency of syrup. Add to noodles and stir fry for a minute or 2. Garnish with peanuts and bean sprouts. This is my Pad Thai fix. Makes 2 servings. Enjoy.
