How do you take B12?

Thought I would trow this question out there.
At present I am taking B12 tablets each morning but know it is available in different forms.
I never knew I should be taking B12 since the convention in Atlanta.

Hi Annie,
Yes, the surgeons @ UNC do not promote the use of B-12, at Duke they do... just one more difference between the two...

I take B-12 every day, in fact i take it twice a day!  I use a sublingual tablet that tastes like rasberry or cherry under my tongue.  I get my B-12 @ Whole foods it's 1,000 mcg per tablet and as i said, i take 1 tablet each morning & evening.  I feel like it gives me more energy.  And i know that the B-12 levels are something that both my PCP & the people at Duke look at when i get my blood work done.

Hi Annie,

As Judy mentioned, Duke promotes the use of B12. Like Judy, I take sub-linqual B12 twice a day.

Quick disolving pill form.  Buy at Sams.  My B12 levels were very good at my 2 year post op visit.

I don't like the sub lingual thing so I just stop in at my pcp's once a month and get a shot.-It is completly covered by insurance with no co-pay for me.

Annie, You can take a shot for B12 and also there is a spray that you spray in you nose the spray is moe expensive than the shots the pill is the easiest if you dont like needles i think the shot you take once a month now I don't know to much about the spray.    Love Ya , Susie

Hi Susie,
I see you found me over here on NC forum this my second home LOL
I am not afraid of needles after all before surgery I had to give myself 4 shots a day.Depending on the size of the tablet they are ok too.
I may look into the subligual tablets that go under your tongue but going to use what I have for now.

Once we moved to japan finding any vitamins have been hard that would meet the guidlines,
my B-12 is the pill form you swallow.. I'm not so great with it, and 9 out of 10 times i throw it back up... :c(
So this week i'm going to my PCM on base to see if i can get a b-12 shot.. i wish i could get a calcuim shot too..lol i have a hard time with pills... :c(
so you have many options and many different ways of taking it..
take care
