Hi Beautiful!

You probably will need a primary care, but if you have some bariatric surgeons that you know accept Medicaid, I'd try contact there office and let them know that you are interested in their program and that you'd like to find a Medicaid/WLS friendly PCP. If you have to find a new PCP anyway, I'd opt for one that was WLS friendly. It's likely that they will know of PCPs that accept Medicaid because there patients that use Medicaid probably have PCPs that accept Medicaid. They may also be able to tell you of PCPs that they have had positive experiences working with. You may also be able to talk to other patients that have Medicaid if you go to their seminars, just because if you ask a question about it others may chime in and provide you with some references.... good and bad.

I hope that helps some.

Good luck and please let us know how things go for you.

Dear Beautiful,

That's why I think you should see about calling the office of a couple of the bariatric practices to find one that accepts medicaid and then ask their office for suggestions of PCPs that may accept medicaid. You could go gray before you get someone to answer the phone at DSS... ;-)

OK sooo im sooo disapointed!! They can not give any PCP out so i went ahead and picked one out the phone book and called them maybe there good there with cape fear valley hospital. And she told me i needed to get my doctor first and get on my 6month diet with them and then call the surgeon back. so i called my worker to have them put the new doctor on my insurance card so i can go get  me a new patient packet and fill it out. BUT SHE DIDNT ANSWER OF COURSE!! so i left the message telling her what i needed. so hopefully she will call back soon and or get my card out soon. This is deff gonna be a journey. Im not looking forward to doing another unsuccesfull diet! JOY JOY JOY!! WHY IS IT THAT MEDICAID REQUIRES A 6 MONTH DIET ANY WAYS.???

At the top of the NC board is a form for Medicaid surgeons.
Maybe check that out and see if you can get and idea of who you can contact...
Most doctor's offices in the phone book will advertise that they take medicaid.
Not sure if there is a webstie for NC Medicaid that you can look at to see a list of doctors...
i'll google around for you and see what i can come up with.. :c)
Its a journey your starting and it will have it's bumps..
