well not exactly "NEW" I has a profile here about 5 years ago, and ow had my new one for a few months . I am a habitual lurker.. lol.. the information I have gathered from this site has definetly helped me in my decision making process.
I have finally completed all of my pre-op appointments, NUT, psych, all testing and have scheduled my surgery date Februsry 16th is my date as of right now, however I have an appointment with my surgeons PA on Jan13th and will possibly get to schedule a sooner date. I am so ready to start this journey. I want to feel normal , play with my kids again and just do all the things I have missed for so many years.

I want to thank all of you who post your advice and tips, you never know who is reading...lol!

I am glad to know there are lurkers out there this is one reason why I share what I share in hopes to help someone who could benefit from wls like I have.My surgeon asked me at a Christmas party what was my turning to himand simply said I wanted To Live.
Can you imagine how life was for someone who was 680lbs?
I lost 300lbs on my own way before I thought about surgery but knew in my heart and soul that was the answer for me.
I never had children and God bless you for wanting to have wls for your children.
Wishing you lots of luck and a great journey.

Hi Julie

Congratulations on your band and the results you are getting with it! I have a very large online group, as well as a large in person support group and they bear out the national statistics that about 90 percent of all WLS are RNY. That said, I have to tell you that while there are some differences in our respective experiences, there are many, many more similarities, regardless of your surgery type.

I look forward to getting to know you as you make your own way down this incredible life-changing road. We do have banders on this board, so if you have band specific questions or comments, feel free to ask and/or contribute.

Congratulations again!

Welcome to the board and I look forward to getting to know you as you make this incredible, life-changing journey. I have to say that my only real regret about the surgery is that I didn't do it sooner. I know that it would have had a positive impact on the lives of my children in so very many ways.

Wishing you all the best,

Barbara
